    offers a professional, but friendly, work environment to cultivate talent. Building on your initial skills you will be trained in our methods of sales, communication and company culture

    Cons

    This company started off nice, but things went left....the stores all closed down! we all lost our jobs. I seen it coming though.

    New company with opportunity to grow. In the process of rebranding itself in the US.

    Cons

    Corporate Managment new.
    Heavy turnover.
    US overseen by Germany.

    Good team to work with. Discounts, you know all the sales that goes on.

    Some managers were strict about neatness of clothes in stores, slow and draining, hard to accomplish goals.

    Pros

    Learnt a lot about the business in my 5 years of retail in the late 90's - early 2000.
    Most staff & management friendly.
    Opportunity to move up quickly into management.
    Bonuses for sales above certain amount.

    Cons

    Nothing negative to say about the company.

    Excellent training and supportive managers.
    Bring back the iconic clothing which people enjoyed wearing in the early 90's.
    Its a shame many stores have closed down.

    Pros

    Simple customer service especially at Esprit Outlets. Retail stores on the other hand, requires quality customer service. Work is stress-free as long as monthly sales targets are met (or exceed, rarely though).

    Cons

    Manpower shortages + no OT = most staff had to work long hours while being expected to be efficient like a machine (or a robot). Immense pressure from the upper hierachy in demanding unrealistic sales targets. Remuneration is rather poor compared to other brands. Morale is low among the staff although most would not admit it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Low sales for Esprit merchandise is a worldwide problem, and is related to the poor marketing & declining brand power of Esprit, which is losing ground to other emerging major players such as H&M & Uniqlo. Shortage of manpower is expected here in Singapore due to cutting down of foreign labour but this is easily solved if proper work-life balance & reasonable remuneration are in place to attract local Singaporeans to the retail industry.

    Pros

    Diversity is a key value of Esprit, reflected in the variety of its employees - mostly young, however very International and from a wide range of backgrounds. Lots of students working part time which is interesting to add to the mix.
    50% staff discounts.
    Fair workplace conditions.
    Great Christmas parties.

    Cons

    Loss of commissions for achieving high sales - instead given group rewards which were very mediocre in comparison to the vouchers previously received - many of these vouchers were spent in-store, buying Esprit clothes for work.
    High turnover of staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Employ dedicated managers who will stay, and thus build a long-term team - this could lower the high turnover of staff.

    Pros

    It is a challenging working company due to it's increasing opportunities in the marketing. Great forecast for the mid-long term, but stuck in the short-term if you are looking to develop a career in the short term.

    Cons

    Too many changes both locally and internationally. Both in structure and in business environment. Lack of benefits considering ESPRIT one of the biggest retailers worlwide. Very german focus business, spite of pretending to be a multinational. It's great if you are german and speak german, but no luck if you are not, and unless you are at very top senior management. Management does not understand the insight work, just focus on the business.

    Should focus both on business procedure, and not only in business expansion. HQ should give better coverage to local markets.
