    Pros

Like the work a lot - sometimes very political. Overall a great place to work with potential for upward mobility.

    Cons

Political and not the highest pay in the industry. But you can do very well there over time if you stay and do a good job.

    Pros

Results focused company. Lots of perks. Very rewarding. Philanthropic.

    Cons

Long hours and very intense pace.

    Advice to Management

The executive team could benefit from building a true culture of development. At times felt more like lip service rather than culture.

    Pros

Good benefits Great brands Discount on product Gratis Leader in the industry oh high end prestige makeup

    Cons

In the division I work in work life balance is a challenge. Too much work to bring home evenings and weekends. Constantly bombarded with emails and expectations to work on off time. Salaries are low and way below national average. Too many layers of management make even the simplest task an ordeal. Not to mention the nepotism that is prevalent. Nearly impossible to get promoted even with stellar reviews. If you have the great misfortune as do I to be managed by or at the mercy of people who are a hindrance to your own professional development; then you'll become very discouraged and disengaged. There are a ton of other things going on that are unjust. Bringing it to anyone's attention such as HR or your manager's manager is futile. Work somewhere where the people are professional not petty. Say no to mean girls!

    Advice to Management

Equalize the work and pay across the board. Remove the excessive layers of management, 360 real work reviews.

    Pros

Excellent company to work for as it is a global company, amazing training ground. If you are lucky enough to have the right kind of manager, it is an excellent opportunity to grow and develop. Benefits packages are very competitive.

    Cons

Salaries can be lower than other beauty companies, so it is best to negotiate in the beginning. Raises can be quite small. Moving positions within the company can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Hiring from within should be encouraged more. There is already a trained talent pool within EL, so it would be best to be more open to internal candidates wanting to from other brands. This should increase retention, rather than candidates leaving for competitors.
