    Pros

    - Fast-paced, dynamic working environment -- something new every day - Results orientation -- laser focused on generating return for clients - Interesting client challenges -- clients look to Edge for guidance and strategic counsel - Great learning opportunities -- ability to own all aspects of a client engagement - Rewards entrepreneurial nature -- values ability to grow business and relationships

    Cons

    - Distributed network of offices can make collaboration and execution difficult - Limited integration of creative output/thinking (i.e., DRTV creative team, online creative team, as opposed to a single, unified creative team) - Types of client engaged -- traditional "infomercial" brands - Resource constraints -- lots of work, too few people (but they're looking to grow)

    Advice to Management

Continue to refine the vision for the organization, and as you do so, ensure that you are adding the skills sets and capabilities to allow for ongoing success.

  2. Awful Executive, Mgmt and HR personnel!

    Pros

good development for entry level employees. Subordinates are friendly. Casual dress. No weekends.

    Cons

They'll talk a good game and make all sorts of promises while in turn getting you to accept their low ball offer. Once you are in good then their real personality shows. Upper mgmt and hr couldn't care less about employee feedback to the point of ignoring suggestions and emails completely. Some of the hardest working team members have quit or were let go. The ones who kept quiet and were willing to suck up kept their jobs. Those who offered suggestions on improvements or would question things that didn't make sense are alienated by mgmt and peers, having to answer to rumors with no real substance or proof of legitimacy or just got their walking papers. There's a fake culture of a positive work environment, to hide and avoid real mgmt issues with their employees. Enforcing their power to demean, harass and basically lie to keep things under cover or seem different than they really are. They only care about the bottom line, $$$. Execs, mgmt and hr personnel are the only ones who get title promotions and raises. No raise in 5yrs of employment with good yearly reviews.

    Advice to Management

Examine decisions made over past years. Listen to consensus, practice what you preach, be more supportive.

    Pros

Interesting business. Hard working emplyees with some interesting accounts and nice people to work with for the most part.

    Cons

This company works it's employees to the bone with rarely a thank you. The HR department fires people with the "downsizing" excuse and has no qualms about letting go several people at once. Not even the courtesy of a one on one meeting. Last I checked, the entire staff has either left or been replaced.

    Pros

They are a leading DRTV agency Balance between personal and work life is good Being granted requested time off is not an issue Their proprietary media system is stellar

    Cons

Management is secretive and uses fear tactics to achieve performance goals The pay discrepancy between the support staff, Buyers and Account Executive in some cases is in the hundred thousands. Managements lacks ability to empower employees

    Advice to Management

Open communication Reduce income disparity between departments Provide performance evaluations

    Pros

Experience, hard working and friendly co-workers, location.

    Cons

Terrible hours, lack of respect from Sr. Mgt. Incredible cheapness at all levels of organization.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to spend the time and money training people to work there, at least show them some degree of respect and appreciation for the hard work they put in, regardless of whether it accomplishes your goals or not. And to cast people off through "lay-offs" with the excuse that the business is not profitable when it is known that Sr. Mgt makes bonuses regardless of performance, is pathetic, to put it nicely. I'll spare my real feelings on the subject.

  7. Complicated. They are a leader in DRTV but lack in positive leadership

    Pros

The internal procedures are buttoned up as far as media buying/planning.

    Cons

Management lacks humanity. Politics are thick and promotions are thin.

    Advice to Management

Positive reinforcement would provide better morale. The intenal departments lack cohesion. The salary gap between departments is open and unfair. Department managers need to provide regular feedback on performance.

    Pros

-Small teams -Ability to take project lead -Everyone is approachable

    Cons

-Impossible to manage projects to any kind of deadline -Serious resource issues (but that doesn't stop account people from promising insane deadlines) -Lack of leadership, and process with project management -Designers skillset is very, very basic - work is barely competent

    Advice to Management

I would recommend that management jump ship - clients (and staff) are walking away almost daily.

    Cons

LITTLE Pay, with no chance for a promotion for about 5 years. A lot of work, and no rewards.

    Advice to Management

Give some of your younger employees a chance to grow

    Pros

Euro RSCG Edge has bread and consistently attracts some great talent. They offer competitive benefits and salaries, and a professional environment.

    Cons

Euro RSCG has taken a lot of the fun out of working in the ad agency world. The larger they get the more emphasis they put on the bottom line and the less they put back into their employees and fostering a fun, creative culture.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employees. A fun, creative environment will help draw in new talent and retain the great talent you have.

    Pros

The ability to learn Direct Response marketing from some of the smartest practitioners in the business.

    Cons

Poor processes, communication and staffing to be able to effectively deliver the services being offered. Many departments operate from and different cities and the communication between key stakeholders and support staff within the company is substandard. Different individuals in Senior Management have different strategies for what's important in the creative that's developed, and this has also fractionated the staff.

    Advice to Management

Get your heads out of the sand and look at why so many good, talented people have either left the agency or are refusing to come aboard. There is dissention in the ranks and it will tear apart the company if not addressed.
