Pros
They offer various training seminars throughout the course of the internship, you get small projects to do that apply to the real world. In some departments you get just as much say as a typical employee (not in all departments though), it pays well for an internship, and it looks great on a resume (I've gotten so much more interest since I put the experience I got at Euro on my resume)
Cons
Job security is not great, you really have to be proactive in asking people for help, otherwise your supervisors will let you sit there with nothing to do. I was actually told I was hired, and then they didn't hire me because they didn't have the budget.
Advice to Senior Management
Make the effort to make sure you're getting the most out of people that express interest in working for your company.
Pros
Employement and a place to sit before my next position which was far better.
Cons
Working for Euro in CT, for the creative director was an experience that I'd not like to repeat. Having a long career in the agency world, most of it good, this was an example of the mental patients running the hospital. Highly highly without strategy. And not caring.
Pros
Decent facilities, general professional attitude, good location
Cons
little concern for your time, very clique oriented, NO RAISES OR BONUSES
Advice to Senior Management
We hear all the time about how great the company is doing and we know someone is getting compensated for it but it does not filter down to the rank and file in money. If you want to keep dedicated people you give them a nominal raise when the company does well. There are only so many times one can hear "Gret Job" without wondering why they do not see it in their pay.
Pros
they do give you a lot of time off, company holidays and stuff like that.
Cons
senior management did not do anything, they kept talking about change but nothing ever came too. A few dept heads really did nothing. Developers came in late and left early even when deliverables were on the table. people got away with doing nothing and saying its not their job when it certainly was.
Pros
The office is dog friendly.
Cons
Poor middle management. Uncreative. Dismal office spaces.
Advice to Senior Management
Hold on tight to your employees because everyone is unhappy and wants to jump ship.
Pros
Casual and informal atmosphere with friendly and approachable people
Senior management is approachable (department heads)
Good benefits
Cons
Limited resources
Raises/bonus are urban legends
Advice to Senior Management
More transparency and actively gather feedback from all employees and not just management level
Pros
Good learning experience, some really good clients. Some talented people.
Cons
Not digital enough, people and process rooted in traditional. Too many account people who don't push back to the client.
Advice to Senior Management
Train your staff to be more digital. Look at how things are done at digital agencies and apply them to your digital departments at least.
Pros
-Euro seems to pay well.
-Location! Best neighborhood (Soho/ W. Village area, a short walk from Tribeca)
- Less cliquey than other agencies in NYC, doesn't feel like a boy's club.
-Creative manager & CCO are both cool and approachable.
Cons
-The person who interviewed me gave an extremely inaccurate description of what accounts I'd be working on, who would over see them, and processes in general. I felt like I was duped, and wished he had been honest.
-Some accounts don't let you present your own work. You submit ideas and never hear back, so you need to take a lot of initiative to follow up.
-Zero basic training. Time sheets? Expense reports? Good luck! You're basically on your own. Your best bet is finding a kind soul who will walk you through it all.
-Uninspiring office space. A lot of people never see daylight.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't be afraid to "trim the fat" and replace people who either don't pull their weight or people who have had dozens of complaints against them. Be honest about job descriptions, praise hard work, don't let account people act like creative directors (critiquing or editing creative work), and try decorating the space a little or making it more fun.
Pros
People are very nice. Great accounts to work on.
Cons
Raises are few and far between.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward people for working hard.
Pros
Account people were great to work with. Very easy. Although client management was way too minimal. Too many fires to put out every day.
Cons
As an ACD at Euro I was not given enough responsibility to drive creative ideas. It was very much like a project manager role, as all I did was oversee the creation of banners and websites. Very little responsibility was given to me for creative solutions. Mostly the Creative Directors or the teams did that. I really did not feel like I was appreciated for my abilities.
Advice to Senior Management
No advice given, as no one is looking out for employees there. it's everyman for himself.
