I have been working at European Textile Collection
Pros – Working at ETC is very comfortable, one can come to work and feel at ease that they will be treated well. Everyone is fairly laid back and nice but the work still gets done. On the bad days you come in and tell someone that your not so happy, or even if you say nothing they will notice and make sure to ask if everything is all right because people here care for each other on a personal basis. This is not one of those large companies where you just become a number and no one is interested how your weekend went. The pay is fairly competitive as well, have worked a few other places in the city and it is on par if not better than average pay for the skill level. Whether you have a creative or non creative position with this company, being around so much art is inspirational on a daily basis and it is nice to see fresh prints being produced daily.
Cons – There isn't a comprehensive benefits package at the moment, not sure if this is planned for the future or what. There is no swimming pool on our roof here in the New York office, although we do have a lovely view of 35th st in all its splendor.
Advice to Senior Management – Swimming pool and personal chef please. We could also use a company plane and limo for nights out on the town.

I worked at European Textile Collection full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Work at your own pace more or less, no real dress code, work to be done is easy and not much thought needed to accomplish tasks at hand. Relaxed office atmosphere for the most part. Get a glimpse of what the fashion world is like as well as how easy it is to start your own textile collection.
Cons – Communication is non-existent, Passive aggressive employer, Gossip is more important to management than the job itself. Definite favoritism amongst employee's with no consideration of people with experience of 5+ years, as listed in a previous review. Very easy to be singled out with staff so small. Employer buys unnecessary "elegant things" for personal use but cheap when it comes to ordering supplies. The illusion that your hard work (and extra work) done will be paid off and respect given. No Benefits. Expects longevity although takes no steps to make it of any worth. Paid monthly because it is cheaper to do so.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat everyone equally for once. Time is being wasted on people who like to talk more than getting actual work done. This is not a sitcom. Be professional for once. Keep in communication with employee's if they are on 1099 and are going to owe money at the end of year.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at European Textile Collection
Pros – Friendly coworkers
Ability to make connections in the industry
Flexibilty with scheduling
Relaxed office atmosphere
Creativity is encouraged
Cons – No health benefits
Everyone is paid on 1099
No raises or promotions for people who had been there for 5+ years
New employees hired in at higher salaries than people who have worked there
Blatant favoritism amongst management, including pay increases and extra time off
Advice to Senior Management – Care about your employees. $12 an hour with no benefits on a 1099 is barely a living wage for a college graduate in New York City. Stop making people sign contracts limiting them form working in the industry for years after they leave. Don't expect people to stay forever when they realize there is no chance for growth. Fire people who are incompetent, they are wasting time and money.
