Very international and multi cultural work environment, with southern Europe management style.

I worked at Eutelsat full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I had colleagues from all over the world, and a stable salary exceeding in many cases the competition. French work law and a very generous bonus, leave and benefit package. I had the possibility to implement my own working tools, and was given on the job training and working trips whenever I required.

    Cons

In this southern Europe management style company making right "friends" (someone that you know and can be useful for introducing you to the important or powerful people) are capital. Personal merits and skills are secondary and will not help your career movements.

    Advice to Management

Eutelsat has enjoyed stable growth since it's beginning, and has balanced successfully between maintaining some of its old traditional europeean public telecom company values, while at the same time implementing agressive growth and investment strategies on a global scale. Invest heavily in value added services, and scrap the current middle management south Europe style as soon as possible.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Eutelsat full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The compensation and benefits (high number of annual leaves) are higher than other companies in the same sector (aerospace industry) in France, especially looking at the Technical Department. If you want to learn more on the technical side (satellites operations and procurement) is the right place to be.

    Cons

In the technical Department there is no possibility of a growing career path and changing inside the company is very difficult. You can acquire experiences, new responsibilities in your restricted field, but always remaining in the same position and with the same job title. No big incentives if you improve your productivity or if you want to do more. This aspect is more related to the cultural way of thinking and power of the Unions in France. In their opinion, small salary increments for every employee is better than giving increments following merit and productivity.

    Advice to Management

Try to push more towards innovation, interconnection of the departments, and development of employees. Sometimes (at least in my opinion) salary and benefits cannot compensate everything. It would be better to have more diversification of responsibilities and a better defined and dynamic career path.
