Advice to Senior Management
-Management training
Pros
Nice facility, well equiped and organized. Decent pay and benefits. High quality, knkowledgabe staff.
Cons
Poor management. Department/Division heads with little or no people skills. Emphasis is on form over substance. Volume of work is prized over quality of work. High level claims professionals spend a great deal of their day inputting redundant notes into an antiquated computer system. The mangers regurgitate information obtained from the TPA's notes into the company system. As long as the note is input timely, the content is of little importance. Creativity and competincy are not rewarded, timely input is. Everest recently took advantage of the "poor ecomony" (while posting very respectable profits) to downsize its staff and increase the workload on the already very busy staff that remained.
Advice to Senior Management
Since you hire and pay for highly knowledgable claims professionals, you might want to let them spend their time trying to save money on the claims and work on creative solutions, rather than input data.
Pros
Good Benefits, Generally nice people, decent pay
Cons
Narrow minded HR dept as well as dictator like "micro managing" VP's. In bad times, they have shown a complete disregard for hard working employees. This past Feb they laid off approximately 10% of the workforce completely by surprise. No warning, just a quick "see you" and escorted out of the building. Then, a week later, they dole out promotions to a large group of people and promote the "fireing" Vp to Senior VP. No class.
Advice to Senior Management
Clean up your act and get off employee's back. Do not award good performance by unneeded layoffs.
Pros
The paid time off and salary/bounses are excellent.
Cons
Each and every day upper level management goes out of their way to micromanage and nitpick every detail of your day. There are 3 layers of mangement over every technician and the vie with each other to "out micro-manage" each other. No detail is so small or inconsequential as to not be dissected by them with an eye towards personally attacking the technical staf..
This is the worst company I've ever worked for.
Advice to Senior Management
Fire the current management staff in your claims department and stop hiring Reinsurance people to manage front line casualty staff. They simply do not know what they are doing and are afraid of making decisions.
