I worked at Everything But Water part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Easy, entry level cashier/associate tasks. Decent hourly pay for a position in retail. Small team. Great culture and philosophy about making women feel confident in their own skin.

    Cons

Only females are hired because of the nature of the product being sold. A small team with only female employees can cause unnecessary drama and tension. Sales goals are unrealistic especially during off season. Management is immature and inexperienced. There is not room to grow as a professional into a corporate setting. The only positions available above a Key Holder in the store are Assistant Manager and Store Manager.

    Advice to Management

Please hire experienced Store Managers and Assistant Managers that know how to lead a team and have the time to dedicate themselves to a store.

  2. Key Holder

I worked at Everything But Water (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly work environment with opportunity to get creative with the swim suits and cover ups. A great position to start off with if you want to advance in retail because you get to work one on one with the customer and wear many hats as an employer (e.g., sales associate, manager, working alone and with others, most importantly making a sales plan for the day).

    Cons

No middle management and hardly any sales associates so your pretty much a sales associate with more responsibility especially since the company has you work alone most of the time . In addition the pay and hours are not significantly more than a regular sales associate. There are no set boundaries so you have the awkward position of deciding who does what, especially when you are closing with another Key Holder. During my initial interview I was under the impression that I would be able to train associates and utilize more leadership experience but it turns out that the opportunity to train is rare. It is a great job for someone starting out in retail but if you have solid experience I would suggest searching further because it can get very frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Hire more sales associates than Key Holders so that way we can utilize more management skills and work in a more structured well organized environment.

I worked at Everything But Water full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great product and nice customers. Decent bonuses available for staff and management. Committed to making stores look more attractive.

    Cons

District managers are completely overwhelmed due to improper management structure there are no regional managers. In turn store managers are over worked and it trickles down to employees. Additionally corporate spends money in all the wrong places and are completely out of touch.

    Advice to Management

Spend money on things that will improve the actual customer experience ie computers, scanners, software updates, staff training and more payroll. By spending all there money on the product alone the customers and staff experience suffers.

    Pros

    Medical benefits. Staff discount.

    Cons

Disorganized. Unsupportive. Unresponsive. Petty. Upper management makes inappropriate comments. Disingenuous. Will not help with hiring.

I worked at Everything But Water part-time

    Pros

Everyone is very friendly and passionate about the customers and the store as a whole. New employees are always treated very well during training and the managers and other employees are very encouraging. Customers are often anxious about swimsuit shopping, so it feels good to leave work knowing that you made a few women feel better about themselves while wearing a swimsuit.

    Cons

Scheduling was a little unorganized at times, and the only source for looking at one's schedule was on a piece of paper kept in the back office. There are many online resources that could have been utilized in order to make scheduling more organized.

    Pros

They train you very well and this is a smaller company so the staff was not huge like most retailers.

    Cons

They don't promote from within often.

    Advice to Management

    Establish a internal promotion system.

I worked at Everything But Water part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun job with flexible hours during the week and on weekends Interactive job with clients of all ages and sizes - enjoyed helping each unique client find the perfect suit for her! New merchandise comes in frequently - keeping the store stocked and interesting to learn each new suit from the designers

    Cons

Crazy busy during peak swim suit season! Get ready to work all day without stopping!

    Advice to Management

If you have a great store manager (like the store I worked in), then the team will surpass the goals and numbers most upper management worries about.
