    Pros

Good pay for the industry Company culture is welcoming Lots of opportunity to learn useful industry skills

    Cons

Welcoming culture can quickly turn to gossip, especially at small sites Not a lot of new career opportunities once you're employed Favoritism/Nepotism/Boy's Club mentality

    Advice to Management

The company culture isn't what it used to be and employees can see that. Make an effort to keep employees happy rather than punishing them for speaking their opinions

I have been working at Evonik Corporation full-time

    Pros

Large company that has opportunity especially if you are willing to relocate. Some good benefits.

    Cons

If you are a chemical engineer you have tons of opportunities but if you are not an engineer you will be limited. Due to the size of the company things move slow.

    Advice to Management

Let the local management have more say at their site. Develop talent within the organization more.

I have been working at Evonik Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I gained extensive SAP knowledge and experience. The managers are great and truly care about the employees. Good insurance. Great pay.

    Cons

Poorly managed AP department. Upper-level corporate managers have no idea what goes on in each department. Contract employees work three-times as hard as direct employees. Direct employees sit around doing nothing, but reaping all of the benefits.

    Advice to Management

Upper-level management should pay more attention to each department and each employee. Weed out the bad and you will have more room for the good.

I have been working at Evonik Corporation (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Challenging Flexible schedules for some Independent supervision

    Cons

Managers target other managers for bullying that last years. People with chronic attitudes aren't disciplined or dealt with in any way. Raised voices are common.

    Advice to Management

Needs major culture change. Needs to take initiatives to change the culture seriously instead of laughed off.

I worked at Evonik Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast paced environment; good cross-functional cooperation across departments; Compensation is very good (pay, 401k match, and bonus), especially for a smaller city.

    Cons

Inflexible work schedule; long hours (evenings and weekends with short notice) were frequently required. Upper management changed frequently and did not seem to be effective.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the emotional bank account of employees. Saying "thank you" with sincerity and showing flexibility with work hours to those who go the extra mile pays bug dividends! Also, consequences for high and low performers. High performers were frequently not recognized and lower performers had little negative impact when projects are not completed on time or performance standards not met.

    Pros

Good benefits, good pay, good people

    Cons

Large global corporation that always seems to have the processes and systems in a constant state of flux. Difficult to gain real traction in the market with a constant state of change and uncertainty on the back end. Corporate micro manages the businesses too much. Opportunities are more abundant for Germans.

    Advice to Management

Let the units stand on their own to operate and maneuver how they need to gain traction in the region's market.

I have been working at Evonik Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company is a large organization with multiple business lines serving a number of markets. So if you are bored with one area one could conceivably switch over to another business line.

    Cons

The businesses work in a silo so the organization has not fully utilized its synergies. This also limits innovation due to lack of idea exchange. Salaries are in the low-end for a large corporation.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you move people from one business to another to take advantage of new ideas and synergies.

    Pros

The people working there were very nice and they pay very well. Someone was always available to answer any questions I had. They also worked with my schedule allowing me time off when I needed it.

    Cons

Honestly there are no cons I can think of. Due to the nature of the work safety training is very big in this industry. So you have to watch a lot of safety videos.

    Advice to Management

You are doing great. The company is very friendly and has great perks. I especially liked how management always kept the employees in the loop.
