I have been working at ExactTarget full-time for less than a year
Pros – Thriving, Fast-paced, Exciting, and Company Family
Cons – Sometimes not enough resources or time in the day
Advice to Senior Management – I love what you're doing, but focus on the details. Let's get some SOP's going for the CRM and let's do some cross selling!

I have been working at ExactTarget full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – ExactTarget has created an incredible organization located within the heart of the midwest. The software, technology platform and future potential for growth is unprecedented. The organization treats its employees with respect and values individual thought contribution.
Cons – ExactTarget has a fairly significant product portfolio. Communication across the product teams can sometimes be challenging but it is certainly something the organization must continue to improve upon to drive flawless execution of service delivery.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to invest in talent; Pay close attention to the work/life balance

I have been working at ExactTarget full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – - Wellness initiatives are getting better and better each year (which I hope continues!)
- Work/Life balance flexibility when "life happens"
- Amazing culture - it really is like a nation we're apart of, we support, help and cheer each other on in all of the day to days of the business
- The "extras" are awesome - committees dedicated to empowering employees to give back to the community through ExactImpact, helping employees just relax and have fun through ExactFun, helping improve our way of live with green initiatives, empowering the females of our company through ExactWIN, etc.
- Challenging and never boring, will push you professionally and you'll push yourself personally!
- Opportunities for training, learning and college tuition-assistance
- Adoption assistance and so much more!
Cons – Fast paced, requires discipline, a "get up and go" attitude and sometimes patience for growing pains. If you're okay with all those, then it's the place for you!! I believe those that think our Orange culture it's a marketing slogan chose not to fully support the company and therefore weren't really very Orange to begin with - it definitely is a team environment and an Orange way of life at the core which is amazing to be apart of!
Advice to Senior Management – Keep the culture going, bumps in road will happen, if you have the right culture and people in place, it'll all get smoothed over.

I have been working at ExactTarget full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Regardless of your position, you feel as if you're making a meaningful impact. This sense of empowerment drives me to see our clients achieve success each day. My supervisor never criticizes me, but instead, gives me positive feedback and is always accessible . Never have I worked for a company that truly believes the core values that make Exacttarget a wonderful culture to be apart of. All my co-workers have a kind demeanor, and a sense of humor to boot! Sometimes I pinch myself realizing I work for this company. (Figuratively, of course :-)
There are so many other pros to list : Free Healthy Snacks, Wellness Bucks, Great Health Benefits, Tuition Reimbursement and list goes on and on............and then some...I highly recommend this company !
Cons – This is a completely new economy now.....Every job has its stressors....
I've always been efficient with my time and enjoy what I do here. I haven't been overwhelmed yet.. deadlines are realistic and goals are achievable ......I'd rather be overwhelmed due to rapid growth as oppose to the contrary....
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you're doing!..........! Continue to take care of your employee base that will continue to take care of our clients ...

I have been working at ExactTarget full-time for less than a year
Pros – There's free food to be had
Fitness facilities are top notch
Cons – This review is for the Indianapolis office--things may be different in offices overseas or out west.
In my opinion, this place takes institutionalization to new heights--free thinkers will typically not excel here. The "culture" is the biggest downside, as most employees have this fake, forced, condescending extroverted personality to them. You will be ostracized quickly if you do not fit this mold.
Never question the company, as they can do no wrong. Don't speak up and you're fine. Kissing up seems to be prevalent and is a great way to get promoted.
Other colleagues breathe down your neck more than the managers do--it's not a very gossipy place, but people are extremely nosy and will probe into your personal life if you let them. Most employees are vindictive, too--they will not hesitate to throw you under the bus if they feel like they've been wronged in any way.
The work-life balance is horrible. Do not plan on working here if you a family and/or value your free time, because 60-hour weeks are the NORM here, and that's for all positions. No reasonable person would expect to complete the amount of work you are given in 40, 45, or 50 hours.
The company itself seems very fragmented and disorganized. Internal changes are common. Your job responsibilities and performance metrics will change as the wind blows, with no explanation as to why.
There is very little diversity among employees--older, minority (read: black) and female employees are few and far between.
Salary and benefits are abysmal and not competitive at all, given the profile of the company's clients and the niche nature of the email marketing industry.
They sell the company to you quite hard during the interview, but unfortunately, that sale seems to fall well short of expectations in reality.
Sounds attractive to you? Then by all means, apply--they'd love to hear from you. Otherwise, keep looking.
Advice to Senior Management – Engage employees at ALL levels of the business, not just the top. Get workers exposed to other departments--there is very little interaction among colleagues, even in the same building. I still have no clue with 80 percent of the other employees actually do. Also, with rapid growth comes great challenges--your focus and priorities will shift if you aren't careful. Learn how to scale.

I worked at ExactTarget full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Refreshing attitudes, kind and intelligent co-workers. An excellent resume-builder and opportunity if you plan on going (and staying) in the extremely niche technology and consulting that the company does.
Cons – Too much teamwork leaves little recognition for individual stars. Women are notoriously passed over for promotion and key opportunities. You will literally put in more hours than you'd ever thought possible without an hourly wage.
Advice to Senior Management – Reality checks are good.

I have been working at ExactTarget full-time for less than a year
Pros – ExactTarget does have the "Orange Culture" that everyone talks about. You should expect to work you butt off, but you should also expect to work in a nice environment. Your team will most likely be able to take care of you and do fun team activities. If you expect to have things your way all the time, well, get real. This job is awesome and they will take good care of you.
Cons – The thing I have observed is how hard it is in Corporate Sales. The pressure is tough, so unless you're prepared to work a lot, prospect a lot, and do everything you can to close business you might not be up for the challenge. Otherwise, if you kill it, you will be well compensated for your effort. It's probably the least "orange" area of the company however, due to the pressure to close business.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you're doing, and see if you can figure out a way to enrich the lives of the sales people to encourage them to be more orange. I think the culture is such a strong point that has the power to make them, and having them happy with increase sales. :)

I have been working at ExactTarget full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – -Hyper focus on client success and employee welfare
-Working with some of the biggest brands and fastest growing brands all around the world
-Learning first hand how to scale a business, build process, hire the right people, creating a fundamentally positive culture
Cons – - Fast growth brings well... growing pains sometimes. At the end of the day I would rather be trying to figure out how to scale people and process to manage business growth than the flip side.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to invest in your people and your clients. They are and will continue to be the greatest asset we have.
