    Houston, TX

ProsSalary and work are good. Some good people work there

ConsNo follow-up on work progress, lack of communication, disorganized, hard to get anyone to answer a phone. People need more inservices

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed more inservices to emplyees. More training needed for people office based. Not a good running and flowing organization. Needs further work and more protocols to operate this organization. Too fragmented. Need more work orientation in the office. Sad could be great organization. Management needs more follow-ups

Not very well organized and IT is very poorly designed.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsDedicated co-workers and hard working. Work can be challenging.

ConsLack of vision in IT and the band-aid approach shows up quite a bit. Underlying database architecture is seriously flawed and in constant need of quick fixes. They don't really appreciate the importance of their data and spend too much time on other areas which contribute to unnecessary down time. Management needs to focus on the basics of database design and implementation. Turnover in IT is too high for the industry.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlan, organize and direct. Hire an independent consultant to analyze IT and report deficiencies. Take appropriate corrective actions. Repeat annually and maybe in five or so years the objective of managing this important area of your business will be relevant to the company goals.

No Morals - Unprofessional - Poor leadership

Drug & Alcohol Tech (Former Employee)
    Tampa, FL

ProsCheck cleared - OT when it was busy

ConsFavoritism - Rude to employee's - Vulgar language used my manager - Hypocritical - Sexual advances made towards other employee's from management.

Advice to Senior ManagementInsurance companies that use EMSI already know how poor your service is. Because of management, EMSI will continue to lose business and hard working employee's. Your business model/structure, if you want to call it that is more like a CULT than having Culture. You either conform to the hypocrisy to get forced out or quit. The lack of moral support from management and corporate proves that EMSI only cares about the bottom line and could care less about their employee's. Proven to be failure.

    Remote underwriter, currently laid off

    Health Insurance Underwriter (Former Employee)
    McHenry, IL

ProsWorking from home. Ending day at a reason time.

ConsWas continually reassured that a job would be there with the promise of training individuals for life insurance......was laid off instead. Large volume of work which required overtime for which there was no compensation.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe upfront and honest with your people.

    A Constant Let Down

    Pject Manager (Former Employee)
    Fort Worth, TX

ProsYour pay check doesn't bounce when it goes into the bank.

    ConsWhere to start?
    - terrible raises, IF you get one.
    - no ongoing education
    - many employees that have great ideas don't share them in meetings because of the fear of their job and being told their idea is not a good one.
    - Sr. management incompetence is only tolerated for so long before it begins to wear down the employees.
    - ever work somewhere where the boss has his sister at a high level making decision in the company?? It blows!
    - ever go to a Christmas party and be told that the office was doing a great job and a certain department's boss is praised for how great they are doing, and then 1 hour later, 1/2 of the department is let go?
    - constant shifting of employees to work on projects that are in trouble, only to fall short on that one, and then go back the project that you were working on to find it is now behind.
    - favoritism
    - favoritism
    - did I say favoritism?
    - they don't listen to people that have done the job successfully before, and have good working knowledge, they prefer to do it their way because that is the way it has been done.
    - lost potential business because the systems at EMSI are so old, working with the customer data would have started us off behind our competition.

Advice to Senior ManagementMaybe try to run the company like a company and invest in your people and technology. Recognize people are spread thin and fix it.
realizes that some of the upper management do not have a clue about what is going on and maybe promote and follow the leads of those that know the business and how to get things done correctly and on time to meet client demand.

    Some good people, but....

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsOk pay and benefits. Some work from home. Office location is fairly convenient. Some coworkers are nice and helpful at times.

ConsQuite a bit of favoritism, no training or advancement. Reviews are few and far between. At times stress level is higher than it needs to be.

Some systems are quite old. Bandaid approach for fixing things.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees. They want to be successful and can be if you let them.

Run if recruited by this company

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsAble to work from home and set own field appointments.

ConsToo much work which cannot be completed in a eight hour day or in the time allotted. Also unable to accurately bill for all work completed. The promised hourly rate quickly diminished to less than minimum wage as the work day progressed. Never spoke with my direct manager. Expected to be on 24 hour call to respond to claims. Menial tasks which required long drive to complete.

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter case screening and need for more investigators. Pay should also reflect actual work completed.

    Poor culture

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Irving, TX

ProsFriendly staff with some very hard working individuals. Customer Service oriented. Flexible hours.

ConsVery poor leadership. Reactive; The company tries to focus on Customer Service, however; they have no real vision, very poor employee development and a poor business model. They work the employees hard with little support, poor systems and a Band-Aid approach to every segment of their business. Systems are obsolete and go down frequently

Advice to Senior ManagementRebuild. Focus on foundation. Aggressive profit and expense control are important, however; the constant fire drill approach and Band-Aid approach to maximize profit margin will eventually cause a collapse which appears to be very close to happening.

Worst company I ever worked for

    (Former Employee)
    Irving, TX

ProsAmazing co workers, benefits were actually okay

ConsWhere do I start...there is no formal training for your position, you are trained by your coworkers. Low pay for the amount of work you will do. High turnover, positions are filled by temps. Low morale. No career development. No room for advancement. The most unethical place I have ever worked for. They could care less about employees, it's about money. No system in place to report issues or problems. No backing from HR if there is an issue with management. Not up to date with technology. No work structure. No effective management.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
