I have been working at Examination Management Services part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good hours, comfortable environment. There are a few good managers among the ones that do not care about caseworkers

    Cons

Low wages, limited to 35hrs a week so you are not considered full time, bad management, high turn-over,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not hire new workers in for more money than tenured workers, makes bad attitudes.

I worked at Examination Management Services as a contractor

    Pros

Working from home is the only positive; however, your time is not your own. Contract workers are treated like FT, i.e. you must choose your core hours, let them know when you have a doctor's appointment, apply for any vacation time, and punch a time clock every day.

    Cons

Greedy environment. Lack of training and opportunity for advancement. Very unethical. Unpaid mandatory overtime for FT staff. Class action suit now pending for this. All employees must punch out and work off the clock in order to meet quotas. Suggestions or comments of any kind are not welcome.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn your processes so you can manage a department. Treat people like they matter. Get some values. Don't make empty promises to clients and employees.

If your young and never had a job, this is a good starter. You'll learn all aspects of good and bad about a job. You will become stronger in the long run.

HR and Management is very unprofessional, always talking about somebody where others can hear. No body smiles. Every body is scared. TRAINING- They need somebody to TRAIN BETTER and to be KINDER in the process. LOT OF TURNOVER.

    Pros

Check cleared - OT when it was busy

    Cons

Favoritism - Rude to employee's - Vulgar language used my manager - Hypocritical - Sexual advances made towards other employee's from management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Insurance companies that use EMSI already know how poor your service is. Because of management, EMSI will continue to lose business and hard working employee's. Your business model/structure, if you want to call it that is more like a CULT than having Culture. You either conform to the hypocrisy to get forced out or quit. The lack of moral support from management and corporate proves that EMSI only cares about the bottom line and could care less about their employee's. Proven to be failure.

Not very well organized and IT is very poorly designed.

I worked at Examination Management Services

    Pros

Dedicated co-workers and hard working. Work can be challenging.

    Cons

Lack of vision in IT and the band-aid approach shows up quite a bit. Underlying database architecture is seriously flawed and in constant need of quick fixes. They don't really appreciate the importance of their data and spend too much time on other areas which contribute to unnecessary down time. Management needs to focus on the basics of database design and implementation. Turnover in IT is too high for the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Plan, organize and direct. Hire an independent consultant to analyze IT and report deficiencies. Take appropriate corrective actions. Repeat annually and maybe in five or so years the objective of managing this important area of your business will be relevant to the company goals.

I worked at Examination Management Services full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Working from home. Ending day at a reason time.

    Cons

Was continually reassured that a job would be there with the promise of training individuals for life insurance......was laid off instead. Large volume of work which required overtime for which there was no compensation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Former Employee - Pject Manager  in  Fort Worth, TX
Former Employee - Pject Manager in Fort Worth, TX

I worked at Examination Management Services full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Your pay check doesn't bounce when it goes into the bank.

    Cons

    Where to start?
    - terrible raises, IF you get one.
    - no ongoing education
    - many employees that have great ideas don't share them in meetings because of the fear of their job and being told their idea is not a good one.
    - Sr. management incompetence is only tolerated for so long before it begins to wear down the employees.
    - ever work somewhere where the boss has his sister at a high level making decision in the company?? It blows!
    - ever go to a Christmas party and be told that the office was doing a great job and a certain department's boss is praised for how great they are doing, and then 1 hour later, 1/2 of the department is let go?
    - constant shifting of employees to work on projects that are in trouble, only to fall short on that one, and then go back the project that you were working on to find it is now behind.
    - favoritism
    - favoritism
    - did I say favoritism?
    - they don't listen to people that have done the job successfully before, and have good working knowledge, they prefer to do it their way because that is the way it has been done.
    - lost potential business because the systems at EMSI are so old, working with the customer data would have started us off behind our competition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe try to run the company like a company and invest in your people and technology. Recognize people are spread thin and fix it.
realizes that some of the upper management do not have a clue about what is going on and maybe promote and follow the leads of those that know the business and how to get things done correctly and on time to meet client demand.
