I have been working at Exova full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

None.. even you work hard to your bones, no appreciation.. the management and their managers all lie..they hire people that tell them what they want to hear and never checked or verify if these are true. Honest workers deliver more than what they are paid for.. much more than what their job description say.

    Cons

incompetent managers (not all) including one very incompetent VP..they are not willing to take input from their subordinates and if you question it, you are not a team player. HR has no clear policy on absences/sick days and vacation days as the rules can always be overridden by the VP or managers. If you are close with your manager, you can take as many absences as you can with PAY!

I worked at Exova full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Experience, other than that run if you can. Take any other job.

    Cons

Toxic environment, extremely low salaries, constantly increasing responsibility as people leave or get fired, almost no senior staff remaining, no resources to do your job, hard work not rewarded, people pushed until the point of breaking... The list goes on... Half the time there was no materials needed to complete basic functions of the company in order to cut costs. The company is hanging by a thread due to poor management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let someone else fix your mess.

I have been working at Exova full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They will hire you if you tell them that you know everything in the world without checking it.
Health and dental benefits, 10 vacation days for first year and 15 days for more than 1 year.
A lot of opportunity to learn different techniques and instrumentation.
    Free coffee for the employees
    Big building
    Air conditioning
    Better than SGS or Maxxam.

    Cons

Salary is not the lowest but below the average.
Don't expect any raise or bonus unless you are a manager.
People are treated terribly by upper management.
GM tries to save money on everything (including paper cups for coffee) but keep lazy people that don't do anything at the same time.
If you get on a bad side of a manager, you are out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your practices and how you treat people or leave the company.

I worked at Exova full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Focus on growth, expansion, becoming on world class leader in it's sector
Many amazing people that work for the company.

    Cons

Work-life Balance? Throw that out the door. Senior executives and management have "Company First" mentality. They expect employees to go beyond their work time to get company results.
Big focus on the negative. Positive results brushed aside, and negatives are the topic of the day.
Managed by intimidation. Very old school, archaic style that focuses only on profits, cost reduction.
Huge turnover of staff on all. People get fed up with the autocratic leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show some respect and compassion for your employees. We are people too. We are your most valuable asset since you don't actually make anything. Our knowledge and determination are what make you a success yet you drive employees out the door. Focus long term, not just on the bottom of your income statement.

I have been working at Exova full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits and a few nice people

    Cons

Unprofessional, lack of knowledge from the managers. No people skills. Cannot be trusted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to save money, hire a competitive and knowledgeable Managers who can really handle pressure and motivate the team so that people will not just come and go. You are not only wasting your money, you are also wasting time training new employees all the time. Rather than hiring a new admin, hire a new Manager.

I worked at Exova full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Really only for the paycheck to get you buy until a better opportunity arises

Some great people come but never stay

    Cons

    None, zero employee development
Poor decision makers, UK head office are arrogant and have powerless puppet senior leaders
You're done for if you make a mistake
