I worked at Expedia CruiseShipCenters as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

With its acquisition by Expedia Inc. completed, the company is rapidly employing the latest technologies and trends. The company is undergoing an evolution from a purely brick & mortar model to a hybrid of retail / tech to become the most powerful cruise agency in North America.

    Cons

The company faces market pressures of declining margins and commoditization of the mass-market cruise product, as well as aggressive direct marketing by the cruise lines. In-house CRM has improved but can still use some innovation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With many recruited from Princess Cruises, The Senior Management team has connections with EVPs from all the major cruise lines. These exclusive connections have resulted in preferable commission rates, exclusive promotions, and added value to the company's customers. They could still leverage more of the parent company's technology and resources into the firm.

    Positive Outlook
