Great place to work

Technology Lead (Current Employee)
London, England (UK)

I have been working at Expedia full-time for more than 3 years

ProsLoads of bright people working in technology
Good work/life balance, fun working environment
Nice offices
Some good social events
Allowed a reasonable level of autonomy and on the whole trusted by senior management in technology

ConsIt's a big company so not everything changes as fast as you might want, although could be a lot worse
Could place a greater emphasis on quality and simplicity within technology

Advice to Senior ManagementBe brave and look to be more disruptive in the industry - encourage creativity and risk taking a little more

Excellent Employer - I have never felt so motivated!

Senior Sourcing Consultant (Current Employee)
London, England (UK)

I have been working at Expedia full-time for less than a year

ProsPay wells, supports you, is a felxible and rewarding company, they invite you to feedback and you have all of the tools at your disposal to enable you to be successful in your role. If you need more - as long as you talk about it, there is a way to move forwards

ConsYou need to be flexible with your hours on occasion IF you are career driven. I am NOT aware of any company where this is not required now.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep supporting your teams. Great job!

  • No Opinion of CEO

Same old big company corporate attitude with nothing to offer.

QA Engineer (Current Employee)
London, England (UK)

I have been working at Expedia full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat benefits and free drinks.

ConsPeople treated like cattle, and no changes will happen unless you have the patience of a saint! No one is allowed to do anything new here. The manager has his/her say on the software engineering process which he/she has no clue of. Also the technology used is outdated for development purposes meaning the skill developed here is not very exportable

Advice to Senior ManagementReview the HR process, esp what is promised during interview stages.
Get rid of the typical corporate way of working. Allow people to be more created rather than just be delegated work - total demotivating.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Great place to grow your career & happy place to work!

Campaign Manager, Europe, Middle East & Africa (Current Employee)
London, England (UK)

I have been working at Expedia full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat people, lots of progression opportunities, lovely offices, personal development as well as career development, opportunities to travel (in certain roles), great benefits and competitive salary

ConsCan be too US centric sometimes, and this means large meetings often focus on US processes (which don't always involve us, and can leave you confused). Only other con is sometimes you can feel like a very small cog in a very large wheel and sometimes get lost in the big company mentality.
