I worked at Expeditors full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent culture, great deal of autonomy for a large multi-national. Matrix-based organization enables entrepreneurial focus on customer solutions, while minimizing bureaucracy. Opportunity to write your own career. Good benefits, especially for tenured employees and internal training.

    Cons

Constant pressure to perform, challenging work/life balance, potential to get stuck unless you speak up. Compensation is ok, but not competitive for some markets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better managerial mentorship and career direction will keep more employees.

I worked at Expeditors full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-If you love to dress up then join up!
-People get promoted within their year mark. (If you aren't promoted or they haven't given you a timeline by then, save yourself the trouble and quit immediately).
    -Nice benefits.

    Cons

-Mandatory 10-12 hour work days during peak seasons, july-december.
-Brain-dead work, no thinking or creative input is required as it is also undesired.
-If you weren't hired into the fraternity, you will be treated like a peasant as you will also be required to do all the work.
-Company includes integrity and honesty as part of it's, "culture," yet has neither.
-Majority of employees dislike management lowering employee potential.
-People pass off work constantly if you know multiple tasks. (Learn to reject additional work until you finish whatever major task you were working on, unless you can handle both and have the time to complete both).
-Company flatlines and still believes people will move up as fast as when it was growing.
-Initiative is undesired, as you will be undermining supervisors and managers that cannot take credit.
    -Blatant favoritism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-It's so ironic that you come at people with hostility, talk bad about and to people, then suddenly bring together a meeting on how your employees need to have honesty and integrity. Maybe try setting an example?

I have been working at Expeditors full-time

    Pros

Currently have several open positions. (one might ask why)

    Cons

Some say management is cleaning house. Some say it's border line age discrimnation and other say its just poor leadership. If you are not part of the boys club you won't last long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

House cleaning needs to start with head management or lack there of, or things will NEVER change. You can fire people and the smart ones move on but at the end of the day you are the one left with egg on your face and down another "GOOD" employee. Down seven people in the last six months, doesn't that raise a flag?

I worked at Expeditors full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Management involves everyone and benefits are great.

    Cons

Pay is very low compared to competitors, there is some incentive to work for department bonuses but these are typically reserved for product supervisors and managers. Lower level employees will be worked to death. Sales force lacks major incentives and it becomes more and more difficult in sales to continue to make decent money the longer you are there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Incentive sales team better.
