Pros
Flexible
Family Oriented in understanding your needs
Pay is not so bad
Benefits are fair
People are nice and friendly
Cons
Work work work work work
VERY fast pace
You kind of have to find your "way" on developing and your goals unless you have a GREAT manager to help lead you
Advice to Senior Management
Ensure that everyone that is responsible for team members are setting goals and establishing a development plan for team member to grow. Give praise by doing the simple things...personal email, note, etc....
Pros
Experian is a strong company with a positive atmosphere. Even working as a remote employee, I still felt connected to the company as a whole.
Cons
There is a loose management structure.
Advice to Senior Management
n/a
Pros
Used to be a decent place to work but in the last several years they have been cutting costs by offshoring and such. Oddly enough, executive compensation continues to rise while all other areas of the business are cuttting costs.
Cons
Your job is never safe from being offshored (unless you are senior management).
Competence is not recognized or rewarded.
Management is completely clueless.
Technology is outdated and poorly managed.
Advice to Senior Management
Quit offshoring jobs. Most of the technical people I know that are still at Experian are looking to jump ship as soon as they can find a job elsewhere.
Pros
sometimes courses offered for free
it's a big application so you have this experience with millions of users
Cons
No chance to have your work recognized unless the management likes you and no matter how hard you work or what you acomplished if they do not like you you will get a tough life to make you live
People from low management were rewarded when hiring new people with a fee.
I saw many people living the company and being disatisfied about how they were treated
In my opinion security of data was poor and if you speak up you get in trouble
I got micro managed by supervisor, given bad advice and when tried to talk to the supervisor
complained that I took his time. It appeared in my performance report that I took their time
Upper management is unsupportive which makes me think that they are aware of the situation
Advice to Senior Management
Please do not tolerate your employees being treated without respect especially when you are aware of the situation. It is a big application and when new people are hired takes time to learn ecause there is little documentation and if you ask question from older employees they might complain to HR
People who help hiring new employees got rewarded at that time
People were complaining that after years of employment after change in management they were told that they doo not do a good job and they had to leave
Pros
Good benefits, sometime free lunch, sometime free courses
Cons
A lot of ego, do not try to improve things, once they have you on the cross hair they will do whatever possible to have you fired.
People do not share knowledge with coworkers
People not rewarded for their work, on the contrary, not promoted
Departments were most people are asian, departments were most people are from India, people who
complain that they had to live after working there for 3 years
A lot of red tape
Do not call hot line to complain you may get fired.
Advice to Senior Management
Be less arogant, you were once at lower levels of management
Please do not give bonuses to people if they hire new people
Lower management may be tempted to fire people
Please fight against segreagation based on race in the departments
If a manager had multiple conflicts during his career with subordinates
is there an issue?
Pros
Large company with decent benefits. Very nice campus.
Cons
Company is outsourcing and offshoreing many jobs. They also want to move as many IT positions from Costa Mesa to Texas. No job is safe at this company. Company has also gone through many lay offs.
Advice to Senior Management
Management keeps saying they appreciate and care for the employees, but their actions do not back that up. If you advertise it, then follow through.
Pros
Friendly and hard working employees-which helps as documentation on processes is outdated or nonexistent
Diversity of cultures
HR is caring but cannot contol some upper management nonuse of good practices such as performance reviews and rewarding top performing individuals
Cons
Furlough instituted,401k matches frozen, raises minimal 2009 into 2010
Layoffs frequent, include top talent, not based on performance but on
company focuses on short term financial wins or ebit goals and not on long term system efficiencies
work computers hard to get repaired and internal system rolled out improperly and archaic old tools - bad form for a company who wants to be known for technology
Advice to Senior Management
question costa mesa for upper management and primary US support - it contradicts hiring employees in Chile for budget improvements
Pros
- good benefits
-work hours are not so bad
- pay is descent
- fun break room
Cons
- technology is outdated, was coding in asp.net 1.0 without a valid doc type
- many of the web developers were incompetent
- senior managers of no clue of web technology
- if you want to grow as a web developer this place is not where you want to be.
Advice to Senior Management
get with the times and use newer technology and hire competent web developers
Pros
Very good benefits, nice reference as a good company in the market - helps to find better jobs. Starting to get integrated as a multinational company.
Cons
Poor communication from senior management, no clear rules, hard to understand evaluation criteria, difficult to make things happen. Too much complexity.
Advice to Senior Management
Put our efforts to understand how thing could be improved at medium level management. Too much politics and very low attention and sense of urgency to manage customer needs and requirements. Loosing good business
Pros
Benefits (paid time off, employee leave, health insurance) are pretty good.
You can learn a lot that is applicable in future positions (at least within the marketing industry).
Cons
Layoffs happen with frightening regularity.
Company is very top-heavy, upper management is ineffectual and unfocused.
Middle management is more of the same.
Pay freezes, 401K freezes, and forced time off/furloughs are the norm lately.
Advice to Senior Management
Value your employees. Read those employee surveys and then act on them. When you make bad decisions, admit them and learn from them.
