Very good company to work for, career opportunities opening up

Software Developer (Current Employee)
Costa Mesa, CA

I have been working at Experian full-time for more than 10 years

ProsSenior management has caught up to the fact that the company's strength comes from its people, therefore have been actively supporting the personal and professional development of employees, I feel that they are sincere in this effort. It is also a matter of personal responsibility and having the right attitude, of oneself taking charge.

ConsWhat senior management has realized needs to be permeated to local management, it is still very hard to advance because the lack of resources, human and infrastructure, is not coming at a faster pace; there is still a lot of work to do on this front.

Advice to Senior ManagementPick up the pace at which better resources are provided at all levels.

Solid 10K+ employee company - good people

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Experian

ProsSenior management has been stable and they have done a good job growing. The brand is known. The general business impression of the brand is almost entirely positive.

ConsLike other companies that grew by acquisition - not sure the bigger picture "synergies" have (or will) materialize any time soon. Plus, like other large companies they hire a lot from the outside.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

A fast growing global business that continues to grow and has great prospects in the BRIC economies. Very stable

HRBP (Current Employee)
Nottingham, England (UK)

I have been working at Experian full-time for more than 8 years

ProsClear strategy, great CEO, has grown up alot since floated in 2006 and for anyone who wants to get diverse experience in a fast growth business, it still has plenty to offer. People are very friendly and want to help, there is a good team ethic through the business, which has grown alot over last few years. Benefits package is generally good overall, but base pay is no more than market average.

ConsSnr HR leadership team is OK, but by no means world beating and the organisation has outgrown current HRD. The rewards for Snr people seem at odds with other people lower in the organisation, so it would be nice for some of the great growth and results to trickle down. For people who perform, there is great experience to gain, albeit this doesn't always follow with promotions and reward, which can/will frustrate the ambitious There is a frustrating tendency to recruit externally for Snr roles, rather than use talent internally, which is far cheaper and much lower risk of failure.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook inside the organisation to promote to more snr roles and be prepared to take a risk, there are lots of talented people looking for that next step

Corporate Structure

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Experian

ProsIF you like good corporate structure, this is the place for you. Strong leadership direction and decisions are made carefully . It is a credit /risk company!
Not a slave ship, you work reasonable hours 8-9 hours a day.

ConsPay is below average. not by much , but a tad bit low. But makes up for it with reasonable work hours

Advice to Senior ManagementYou've been in business for a long time and have continuously improved and grown. Try to be more transparent to employees and make each employee feel like what they work on contributes
