    Pros

The corporate office is beautuful, pay is high (especially for a fashion company), amazing cafe.Great training and company discount.

    Cons

Upward mobility for people in our department seemed difficult, even for those qualified with fashion degrees. Our department was understaffed and on busy days it could be quite stressful, especially when angry customers calledi in.

    Advice to Management

Honestly I felt that management treated us really fairly and did their best to create a fair place to work. I would say on busy days maybe encourage employees to get up and walk away, even if it's 2 or 3 minutes, just to straighten their legs once an hour or so.

    Pros

it was a great experience and a summer to learn about not only the retail industry, but a corporate job in general

    Cons

The retail industry in general was not performing well and the model of retail of brick and morter stores are changing

    Advice to Management

Offer full time jobs for interns much sooner. Making interns wait for an opening 2 weeks before they graduate is risky and a waste of time spent on training us

    Pros

I've been at Express (Columbus home office) for around 5 years and I still love it. It's fast paced and a little crazy, but that's the type of environment I thrive in. Management really does recognize and reward successful employees.

    Cons

If you're not someone who likes fast paced, do nt bother even applying for a job here. It's intense and it takes a very self-driven person to succeed. Sr. Leadership feels a bit disjointed, which makes things tricky too.

    Advice to Management

Streamline your communication. Mean what you say. Make decisions and don't waffle so much.

    Pros

Um, there's a cafeteria. The people who work there are ncie.
I made some good friends in the office after bonding from our misery of working there.

    Cons

Numerous people in middle and upper management positions are pathetically unqualified for their positions and lack majorly in leadership skills. The more detrimental an employee is to the company, the better protected they are by management and HR. I watched a lot of talented people leave the company due to issues wtih these managers and "leaders". Meetings can be a joke, the pettiness between teams and even teammates is often expressed unprofessionally during meetings, no one could get along which is clearly hurting business decisions. Morale was very low when I left a few months ago which the leadership team either doesn't care about or is too ignorant to notice. It was rare to go a week, or even a few days, without someone on my team crying. At work.

    Pros

    Benefits are good.
    Pay is average.
Cafeteria and Starbucks in the building
    Employee Discount

    Cons

Managers are inexperienced and do not look after their team. Its everyone for themselves and a culture of "if you look bad then I look better". Management does not interact with employees on a consistent basis but pretends to know what the issues are and who is causing them

Culture: People here are downright rude. Common courtesies like "good morning" or "see you tomorrow" are greeted with cold stares or more often than not, just silence. Gossip is rampant (imagine high school). Passive aggressive emails and meetings are the norm.

Company Values look good on paper but are not translated into the culture or the quality of the product.

Work Life Balance: Don't expect to take lunch and dont expect to be home in time for dinner.

    Advice to Management

Interact with your employees and at least pretend to care about them.

    Pros

Individual contributors are nice and the environment makes you learn quickly, for that I was thankful.

    Cons

There's no real training program and people throw other people under the bus...not a very good team environment. I would always walk into meetings wonder who was going to leave a meeting upset. Unless you're high up, you feel like you can't contribute a lot/ aren't listened to.

    Advice to Management

I doubt the culture has changed since I left, but I hope I am wrong.

    Pros

Leading edge technology. Some ability to get trained on what you support.

    Cons

The top executives make all the money. No stock options except for VP and above and the VP's get very little. All the money goes to the E team. Also very small bonus for Managers and Directors. Human Resources has to be the worse I've ever had to deal with.

    Advice to Management

Focusing a little more on your employees will ultimately help your customer experience and increase sales.
