Pros
They will hire non-certified pharmacy technicians, so you can gain the knowledge necessary to pass the certification test. Certified technicians are paid a little more. It can be a good entry point into this career field.
Cons
Upper management has no respect for the workers. They are very demanding and always want more output, regardless of how well you are performing. Frequently require mandatory overtime, often with just a few hours notice (they do not care how this impacts your family or other obligations). Very little opportunity for advancement, and management plays favorites so if they do not like you personally, it does not matter how qualified you are.
Advice to Senior Management
Treating employees like expendable resources might benefit you in the short term, but it will catch up with you eventually. How many talented people have left because of frustration and burnout?
Pros
The pay rate is high for the field. Good, affordable benefits package.
Cons
I thought a four day work week would give me more time for actual life, not the case. We work 11 and 12 hour shift more than 10 hour shifts. The pay is nice, but I never have the time or energy to enjoy anything. Micro-managed beyond necessary, HIGH turn-over, ask so much from the employees, but don't give much in return. No praise for a job well done, but over kill if a mistake is made. Not enough attention paid to the employees heath.....the environment is full of pill dust. I've never had any respiratory issues in my life. After one yr + of working here I now have a nagging cough and frequent sinus/respiratory infections. I'm not the only one.
Advice to Senior Management
Take more time to make the employees feel appreciated and safe.
Pros
Decent amount of PTO
Immediate supervisors care about their employees, even if the higher-ups don't
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE
Cons
World's cheapest company
Company makes many BILLIONS of $ a year and spents absolutely 0 on employees
Company lies about workload and forecasts
Mandatory overtime
No perks, no activities unless employees pay out of their own pockets
Advice to Senior Management
Don't expect employees to get excited when you announce big new clients every few months, and then never share ANY with your employees. Don't brag about how great we are doing, then cut bonuses and raises.
Pros
Benefits begin at start date
Cons
The only way to be successful at this company is to have your head up your supervisor, manager, and/or directors a$s. Don't be fooled with the "Express Way Values".. there is unprinted exceptions that unknowingly apply to you. Know your leader - Two-thirds gossip and spread rumors worse than your average magazine. If you haven't learned yet, 'he said' 'she said' bullsh*t is a great way to write you up or get you fired. If you liked elementary school; this is the place for you!
Advice to Senior Management
Sit in a cubicle instead of behind your door with the blinds shut. One day is all you will really need. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to see what kind of supervisors you really hired. Prepare yourself though..employee engagement is overlooked when so much time is spent on the internet, paying bills, and resolving personal issues. The attempts to get rid of unnecessary meetings was nice at first, however it is amazing how unavailable someone can make themselves without your help. If you don't sleep well at night, it doesn't surprise me.
Pros
The day shift gives you 3 days off which is cool, and the PTO time that you can earn is real nice. You get over 6 hours per pay-period provided you put in a full 80 hours in 2 weeks.
Cons
Don't expect to get a raise worth anything. I worked with people that had been there over 6 years and weren't even making two dollars more an hour from when they fist got hired. The workload that you are given and that pay don't add up at all.
Advice to Senior Management
NO COMMENT
Pros
A Lot of paid time off
Very good benefits
Management knows everybody by name, even peons like us!
Regular performance reviews
Decent starting pay
Cons
No advancement unless you push for it
Lousy pay raises - difference in pay raise, between a great review and a bad review is 10 cents p/h!! Insulting! Why try harder for 10 cents p/h?
Boring at times - though no fault of the company
No raises or promotions if you have been written up for any infraction, no matter how trivial
Advice to Senior Management
better new-employee training before being thrown into the fire
better acknowledgement of good work (ie. better raises)
Don't be so cheap about absolutely everything (down to the pens!)
rotate jobs to make job more interesting
stop writing people up for minor errors - you state that mistakes happen, no one is perfect, but are quick to write up for the most minor of errors - I've been here a year, and have been written up 3 times already - which translates to 3 mistakes for approximately 100,000 orders I have personally processed/filled. That translates to 99.997% accuracy, which I feel is great, management doesn't think so! Stop using minor infractions as a way to avoid giving raises.
Pros
Opportunities for advancement
Decent pay
Great benefits
If you like sitting at a computer all day vs being on your feet, this is a great job!
Cons
Less supportive of work-family life balance issues
Lack of positive reinforcement
Policies and procedures constantly changing often within the same day
Too much focus on production at the risk of patient safety
Office politics
Advice to Senior Management
Realize that happy employees are more productive
Pros
There used to be a reason to work here to service the patients, those days are long gone.
Cons
They push employees to meet numbers everyday. They don't care about customer service any longer. They are into consumerology, but to the employees it means servicing the patient's that built the company. They loose contracts every month due to less and less service. They bring in supervisors and managers rather than promoting from within. There is no longevity here because senior mangement drives everyone out. There is no respect for the staff that keeps the engine running.
Advice to Senior Management
Look at your staff and see what they have and who they are, treat your patient's like you would your family. Support your employees with basics like a fair wage and decent benefits. Your a PBM and your employees can't even afford the maintenance meds they need, they go to walmart who suppports there maintenance meds at better rates.
Pros
flexible schedule!! low stress (this is mail order pharmacy). I worked four 10 hour shifts m-thur and had 3 day weekends!!! I got to do a lot of things that I had missed working every other weekend at Walgreens. Its a good job if you have young children and need a flexible schedule. Its also nice because you actually get to eat lunch!
Cons
redundant, don't feel like i'm truely using my pharmacist education sitting in a cubicle checking RX's. I do the same thing 10 hours a day. My wrist started hurting from clicking the mouse so much
Advice to Senior Management
be fair when promoting employees and asking employees to participate in special meeting etc
