I have been working at Express Scripts full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

It is a fairly easy job taking customer calls. The pay will now be the same as other customer service jobs in the same field.

    Cons

This company only looks for cost savings and does not handle situations logically. I previously worked for Medco before Express Scripts purchased them and Medco paid a much higher salary, had better benefits and was more concerned with getting things handle properly as opposed to looking out for profits first then the patient.

    Pros

I had a great team with great senior management who did not worry about micro managing and gave you some space.

    Cons

Ever since the merger, things have gotten very political and the cost cutting has forced good people out of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

worry about keeping the talent that you have and have better employee appreciation.

    Pros

Good Salary, Good Benefits, Strong sense of unity, good value prop, most people who work for Express Scripts are highly skilled, and want to do well. Strong mid level leadership.

    Cons

Silo-ed approach to problem solving, Grown too big to adequately sustain strong customer focus. True concern for member and client experience has taken a back seat to clinical innovation and grabbing for more market share. There is a "culture of fear". Most employees are afraid to ask, tell of share, and most of the time the person who matters (leadership) is too busy to actively listen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your clients, and focus on making things easier for patients. A better patient experience generally means happier clients, and thus happier ESI employees. Anyone can make something complex...the challenge is to make something simple and reliable.

    Pros

The Company is an industry leader, the compensation is ok, the values are to be admired.

    Cons

The culture dictates eminent burn out. The compensation has decreased for legacy Medco Employees and the incentive for excellence and growth have diminished.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider treating the employees like they are your number one investment. The residual would be endless. Beef up your rewards programs in the sense of having a pulse on the production and value of each individual. PBM is too savvy to be treated like a factory. This is why the quality of work is falling.

    Pros

Good salary. Ok schedules good bonuses.

    Cons

Poor communication across organization. Poor executive leadership. No commitment to employees or client strictly about the bottom line.. No true leadership development . The company does not have a good training program for their new hire resulting in huge turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to take a closer look at Medco,s business model. You will continue to lose big clients and talented employees by the way you do business

I have been working at Express Scripts

    Pros

Benefits are good, health, paid time off,401k with company match

    Cons

Management is horrible they are unwilling to help they act like they care but don't. There are guidelines in place that are almost impossible to meet if you care about the patient. This company doesn't care anything about the patient all they care about is the money. If you are someone who genuinely care about patients and want to help this is not the job for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try sitting in our seat for a week or two with the rules you have and see how well you like it.

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Only thing that would be remotely close to a pro is that you get paid weekly, and you'll have a 40 hour per week schedule.

    Cons

Besides the basic devaluing of the employees that are "overpaid" for there services. The constant micromanaging from management, the unwillingness to recognize and provide a safe environment for the employees to work mentally and physically, the harassing tactics that occur when an employee has a complaint about the work environment and/or management, the heavy load of work that is enforcement with no incentive except the basic concept being provided with employment. There are many clients contracted with the company that REQUIRE proper training that is NOT provided by management. When the negative comes back from the client, only the customer service department is reprimanded. There is no work/life balance, there is not one perk, there is no happiness from the existence called working for Express Scripts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When your employees are not happy (if you care), your members will not be happy. Therefore, your clients will NOT be happy. Continue enforcing the negative towards those who are mainly the backbone of the company, and negative results will ensure. IT IS SIMPLE.

    Cons

There is no formal and mostly no informal training program at all for new hires. Come with industry experience or be gone quick.
