    Exterran is an average company

    Staff Level (Current Employee)

ProsOffice environment, base salary, location, level of stress

ConsMid-upper management, direction of unit, lack control of processes, lack of communication between departments, limited opportunity

Advice to Senior ManagementHire and promote from within group. Listen to & rely on your experts. Demand communication among departments and groups.

    Not bad company

Senior Software Developer (Former Employee) Houston, TX

    ProsGood work environment, dynamic work.

ConsDragging feet on technology upgrades, and IT management a little uneducated on current IT trends.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire someone with a heavier background in the trenches of development.

Good Company but Room for Improvement

Intermediate Project Engineer (Former Employee) Houston, TX

ProsFocused on safety; spends money on developing employees, and has different career paths available.

ConsIf you've been with the company for some time your salary isn't increased accordingly to market conditions. Hires too many people outside of the industry which creates problems with "PROVEN" ideas not working out as planned.

Advice to Senior ManagementThis review is a bit old but it seemed that they could increase merits based on market conditions. There are also too many managers and not enough workers. Could look at reducing overhead.

ConsYou need to know your stuff if you want to make it here...other than that...I've got nothing to add.

High turnover rate, lack of support from upper//mid management

Staff Projects Planner (Current Employee) Houston, TX

Prossalary and benefits, traveling, diversity and company culture. You have multiple opportunities to develop your career and getting exposed to high level managers from both the company and client sides

ConsThere is a high turnover rate on employees and high level executives, changes in hr policies, lack of support from upper/mid management, frequent layoffs due to restructuring and changes, remote management from executives based on the middle east

Advice to Senior Managementreview long term strategic objectives

    Working at Exterran

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsShort commute from my home. Like the people I interact with the most. My opinion counts for the most part.

ConsCompensation and benefits are below standard for a O/G company. The IT management is dysfunctional to say the least. Too dependent on the Oracle ERP, which is laughable how bad the implementation was and continues to be.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of most of the IT management. Stop charging for internal IT services, as this will allow the business and IT to work closer together to get efficient applications developed.

    Terrible Place to Work

    Welder (Former Employee) Youngstown, OH

ProsThe only Pro I can think of, Steady Dayshift.

ConsThey lied about the hourly pay rate. They lied about benefits. They lied about everything from the start. Very unprofessional, immature Management. I would not recommend this place to anyone.they have their own lil click. They pic their own pets for overtime, etc.

    Lacks organization, and accountability.

Shop Mechanic (Current Employee) Fort Worth, TX

ProsThere is a lot to learn, always busy, no real signs of slowing down no matter the position taken. Lots of chances to shine if you're willing to put in the work, and take the overtime.

ConsOverwork good employees, overlook the bad ones.

    Insurance is expensive

    No suggestions or input accepted

Organization is a myth and teamwork doesn't exist.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere are too many good employees and too much great knowledge at hand to run a company this poorly.
