Current Employee – been working at Exterro full-time for more than a year
Pros – These are the pros that I have found while working at Exterro. The employee relations are good. The approachability of management and ability to have open conversations with the executive team is great. That there is fair treatment for all employees and candidates is a pro for me. They care about diversity and champion that. I enjoy that there are prospects for advancement within the company. Whether you want to change departments or just grow in your own field, Exterro is very open to that. It is a growing business, they are constantly trying to support their employees and create a fun workplace that fosters creativity and work-life balance.
Cons – Exterro is a place where individual that want to succeed, do. It is not the place for you if you don’t like working or building something together. The people here work very close with each other and enjoy collaboration.

Former Employee – worked at Exterro full-time for less than a year
Pros – The kitchen/breakroom was nice. There's plenty of parking. It's an easy drive to the office from I-5 and 217. Most of the staff are from India which creates a very pleasant multicultural work environment.
Cons – Everyone is protective of their job space and in constant fear of losing their job. No one is allowed to know anything that's going on. They pay their employees very little and control them using intimidation. The turnover is, not suprisingly, very high. Most of the engineering staff is in India. This creates a 24/7 mindset about the workday. They expect everyone to work excessive amounts of overtime.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop posting fake "reviews" on this site.

Pros – High-growth market. Great place to learn about eDiscovery industry. High profile customers. Relatively good, relevant products. Some great employees, particularly in engineering, implementation and support.
Cons – Some unprofessional, immature sales people tolerated because they have been with the co. from the beginning. High turnover otherwise.
Co. is owned and managed by several engineers (who are related).
Advice to Senior Management – Hand over managment to business experts, not engineers.
Share the success of the company with the employees.
Don't tolerate unprofessional behavior in anyone.

Former Employee – worked at Exterro
Pros – Other than the senior executives, and 1 or 2 questionably educated sales people, Exterro's employees are smart, talented people who make the day fun. The industry is fantastic and Exterro has some amazing clients.
Cons – The founding executives have absolutely no idea what they are doing. They place absolutely no emphasis on work quality so the products have way too many problems. They don't listen to their clients who tell them the same thing and as an employee, if you point this out and try to make a change, the execs tell you that you're "not on the bus" and should leave. No criticism is allowed even if meant to be constructive.
I agree with the other reviewer about HR. In addition, everyone is expected to work 12-16 hour days, and be on call outside of that. And if you do something well, you are rarely praised, appreciated or rewarded for it.
Advice to Senior Management – Step aside. Hire some outside management consultants and FOR ONCE listen to what they tell you to do. You are ruining what could be a great company and your own reputations in this very small industry.

Current Employee – been working at Exterro full-time for more than a year
Pros – Exterro is an excellent place to work. It is a product based company and no one will ask any question if you are interested in other areas. Exterro gives an opportunity to get the complete picture from Marketing, Sales, Product support, Development and QA departments.
The company has cultivated a staff of subject matter experts that lead the industry in developing solutions related to ediscovery products. It's great to be part of the "A" team.
• Learning opportunity
• Friendly coworkers
• Good Management
• Relaxed dress code
Cons – HR policy should be improved.
Policies should be clearly available for the employees.
Employee portal for leaves, salary slips,…
Advice to Senior Management – Exterro should do more team building activities across departments.

Pros – Hi Friends,
I would like to share few things with all of you which is most vital information for a techie.
In simple words if I have to define things for you, I would say a work carried out in a developed organization is called as a conveyor belt and that of a growing organization is a 360 degree growth.
Conveyor Belt:
Specific resources are allocated to do a task and they do NOT have any option for working with other stuffs even though the folks desire and are skilled in it.
360 degree growth:
Folks in any developing organization would surely have an opportunity to work with anything what the employee desires. He has an option to bring in innovation by exploring new things in various fields within the specific team or else where.
Exterro looks for growing with the employee and NOT has a company all alone. When each & every employee working for the organization reaches their best then obviously the company would reach its goals it short span of time. That is what Exterro offers you with.
Short term goals helps you to achieve long term goals. Day to Day activities helps us achieve the
short term goal. A firm can reach great heights only when the employee is at their best. There lies the winning secret.
Exterro looks exactly this and offers the same !!!
The vision is to become a developed organization at the earliest and the mission for it the growth of employees.
It’s your call:
To fall into the conveyor belt and do the same process without learning new technologies/innovation
OR
To be a part of a developing organization and work with the latest cutting edge technologies thereby having a 360 degree growth with the company?
THE CALL IS YOURS
Thank you
Cons – Can take employee more folks and help them grow
Advice to Senior Management – Rightly focused !!!

Pros – The employees are great, when something needs to get done, it gets done. As stated in the headline, the industry is great and clients and prospects are both interesting and intelligent. In theory, there is room for development.
Cons – The management is the worst I've ever seen. They are a group of software engineers trying their hands at being executives, and failing miserably. Basic HR laws are regularly neglected and just plain acknowledged but ignored. When I've had an HR issue/question, there was no one to turn to. Their motto on HR is, "We don't need or want HR around here." You need to adjust to their philosophy on life first and go along with it, or you are let go, regardless of skill. Consequently, there have been questionable promotions based off of attitude alone, skill and background disregarded. Turnover is terrible, and there are a small handful of employees who have been there for over a year.
Advice to Senior Management – Get out of your own way and hire professional executives to run the company. "Raw talent" is good for an internship program, but it's not good to put "raw talent" in the Director level. Please don't bring in speakers from the VC world to tell us that we need to be working around the clock for next to nothing because we are still in "startup" mode. We're not in startup mode, we are in survival mode. If you want a reality check on that, just remember that Facebook also started in 2004. Your employees don't like you because you treat them like property. Build software that the marketplace wants, not something that you think has a cool feature. Listen to your customers, listen to your prospects. LISTEN to your employees.
