    Pros

If you really wanted, you could move into other departments like, HR, Accounting, IT, etc.

    Cons

The pay was low, but most employees were recent grades and these were their first jobs.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees wants and needs.

    Pros

The only great thing about this company is it's social atmosphere.

    Cons

It pays next to nothing, the workload is unreasonable, stress unbearable.

    Advice to Management

Stop contradicting yourselves and please lead by example.

    Pros

The teachers and grammar school principal were all thrilled to know we were helping their low performing kids. The kids were receptive to our approach of books and computer learning. It was a joy to see how far they advanced in just three weeks. My fellow coaches were all good people to work with. The 5:1 ratio of tutor to students was fantastic.

    Cons

Sink or swim culture with training that was woefully inadequate. The computers were not working over half the time. The kids were most interested in learning with them, but were frustrated that they only worked half the time. Classroom supplies and books were often not available for all students. They frequently had to share books which became a hassle for all of us. it was sad to see how frustrated the Extreme Learning supervisors were with all the confusion and chaos.it was obvious they weren't getting what they needed from Corporate HQ

    Advice to Management

Train contractors. Stop sink or swim culture. Get organized. Have books for each student. Ensure that the computers work. Give your full-time supervisors the resource they need. Your product is a great one, but if it isn't working that day or if there are not enough books then the product suffers and the kids "tune out".

    Pros

There are cool, young people working here and a decent job for a college student.

    Cons

Be prepared to have management look over your shoulder, literally, watching you work.

    Advice to Management

Have some trust in your coaches, or have a better interview process if you can't trust those you let in.

  6. Being a coach is rewarding, but micro-management made it an unpleasant place to work

    Pros

Consistent part time hours, hourly pay is decent

    Cons

Employees were lacking morale. I had an annoying lead that would constantly use the phrase "he, this is better than retail!" to motivate employees. I expect leaders to be passionate about the job they are doing--not surfing sports websites all day.

    Advice to Management

Hire better leaders who actually value the work we do as educators.

    Pros

    Good pay for tutoring position
Good First job opportunity for people who never worked before
Get a raise for returning next school season

    Cons

No time /limited time for break between tutoring sessions
    Pointless weekly meetings
Deals with many non English speaking students

  8. Most unethical place I have worked at. Unfair to employees and had a very unprofessional overall management team.

    Pros

The advancement and ability for the kids to excel academically. Good tight net relationships with fellow coaches who worked good as a team and shared similiar beliefs including observations of work environment.

    Cons

Unprofessional, extremely unfair to employees, unorganized most of the time, work description constantly changes almost every week, management team its unprofessional and demanding. Employees are just not treated right for the work that they do.

    Advice to Management

Changes need to be made to the management team. More teamwork needs to be incorporated into the environment rather than constant demanding of employees. That is not they way to solve problems. Overall, the management team is extremely unprofessional and unorganized to say the least.

    Pros

uses the internet as a source of learning

    Cons

seems like a menacing place where the staff just wants to have the spotlight solely on them. Doesn't value face to face interaction

    Advice to Management

don't intimidate staff! use both face to face interaction and online tools! treat people with respect because they are more likely to flourish!

  11. One of those jobs that I was not happy to go to every morning

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    I worked at Extreme Learning

    Pros

It's a good side/seasonal job for college students
It's a great cause: Offers free tutoring to low income families

    Cons

Management and HR were not great at all, Very unenthusiastic work place, A lot of work to be done in a small amt of time, especially on the weekdays As an employee, I felt rushed/pressed to finish my work in order to take a full, required 15 minute break/30 minute lunch before returning to work

    Advice to Management

Management and HR needs to communicate with their employees more. Breaks were cut short because there was simply too much to complete before employees were forced to take their 15 or lunch.
