    Pros

Salary is great. Work days are different each day with new challenges. Flexible schedule as long as you are taking care of your business I think is a fair

    Cons

Many negative people that love talking about conspiracies and how others are unfairly getting promoted. Spend more time doing this than working.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be transparent and give low performers the closer they so desperately need.

    Pros

Good experience. Nice people. Good for a resume. Well run company. Solid employee benefits. Overall an enjoyable and valuable experience

    Cons

Tough to manage work and home life although that could be said of any job. Not a very challenging job although this could also be listed as a pro for some people.

I worked at ExxonMobil as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

There is a lot of opportunity for growth and development, and engineers are treated very well. Management consists of engineers, and all promotion is done from within.

    Cons

A lot of red tape and bureaucracy. Things get done slowly, but they usually get done right.

  9.

Challenging work environment with rigid structure

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great compensation. Challenging work environment that offers opportunity for quick advancement. Ability to get hands on field experience if desired. Excellent co-workers.

    Cons

Rigid structure that doesn't offer many opportunities for out of the box thinking. A sense that management doesn't value Mechanical Engineering backgrounds as much as other degrees (for both daily team input and for career advancement opportunities). Limited vacation and long hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand the values of 'soft' benefits (shorter work hours, comp time, etc.). Younger managers on the 'fast track' should value their employees and focus on their current role instead of positioning themselves for their next job.

  11.

Great monetary compensation, but lacking in other areas

    • Senior Management
    • Culture & Values
    • Career Opportunities
Current Employee - Corrosion Engineer in Baton Rouge, LA
Current Employee - Corrosion Engineer in Baton Rouge, LA

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

High Salaries, Great coworkers, Very diverse workforce, Excellent retirement benefits, Allows employees to quickly move up the ranks, Very safety oriented environment

    Cons

Poor hours, Little to no recognition, No transparent ranking system, Employees do not control their own moves within the company, Superficial improvement programs, "Good Old Boy" mentality, Out of date benefits

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are promoted too quickly and without the proper training to be able to lead efficient teams. This leads to a poor managing system all the way up the chain of command. Additionally, the work hours are not comparable to the rest of the industry leaders. It seems as if the benefits have not been updated for the younger workforce and are still geared to the baby-boomer generation.
