Pros
It is a very established company. Among the people that work there is a lot of knowledge and experience, so typically I was able to find answers whenever needed. Since it was a large company, there were lots of opportunities for advancement, whether it was at your current site, or a different site. There were well esablished career paths, whether you wanted to take a technical or management route.
Cons
The company was very conservative - sometimes it was hard if you have a good idea, but it may not come to fruition becase there may be a small amount of risk involved. The pay was okay, but there was no bonus, which is poor compared to other companies.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more visible to the people that work there. That way you don't appear as just "those guys upstairs."
Pros
- Good nature of work
- Support from supervisors
- Broad nature of tasks
- Good pay
- Excellent work/life balance
Cons
- Sometimes I don't have anything to work on
- Supervisors can be busy to take care of the interns at times
Advice to Senior Management
Please devote some time for the interns as it would be really helpful for the interns to learn more about the company
Pros
very good pay and very good income
Cons
boring job, but most of the time you get to go out
Advice to Senior Management
include gays in your policy
Pros
If you are one of there elect, you are in great shape. Very good salary.
Cons
If you are not one of their elect, they will run you well out at an early age. Very inflexible on how they run their company.,
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of your forced ranking system. It is a bogus way of getting rid of people that don't fit the mold.
Pros
High Pay and Quick Advancement
Cons
People generally unavailable to talk
Difficult to get even 2 other people in the room at the same time
The entire ranking process
Advice to Senior Management
Revise the ranking process to be more objective
Ask people to actually show up to their meetings when they commit to them
Pros
Good benifits and competitive salary
Cons
Very political. Its who you know not what you know
Advice to Senior Management
Take better care of employees
Pros
big company to work for
Cons
no recognition to new employees
Advice to Senior Management
no advice.. There is nothing they can do
Pros
Great Experience, flexible schedule, awesome exposure to managing variety of people.
Cons
Very subjective ranking and rating job performance. It is not all numbers/result based, what your boss say about you during the ranking and rating session means more than what your Scorecard shows. If you have a boss who doesnt like you. Kiss your promotion and raise goodbye.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to uniform the training process. Sending TMs to different areas of the country mean if they are lucky they will get a OM or a market that will train them well. If not, they will have to start slow or learn about their job when they actually have a full territory. It is not fair to many TMs.
Pros
Corporation is profitable, provides some stability
401K plan at 6% match
Old-fashionned pension plan
People who work there- intelligent and professional
Cons
Medical insurance very expensive
Annual ranking systems of employees by local management with no pre-set standards, so you never know how you will be judged nor by what standards. No management by objectives. Ranking system is very political.
Constant lay-offs since 2002, mainly aimed at Americans
Advice to Senior Management
Show more appreciation for rank and file. The golden top 10% couldn't run the company or get any work done without them.
Pros
Good pay. Safe. High level of responsibility for junior employees. Good benefits. All employees are high calibur. Low risk management.
Cons
Can be boring at times. High competition for promotions. Easy for an employee to be forgotten. Highly levereged employees. Expected long hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to adapt new management concepts into the organizational structure. Structure needs to be more flat. Fewer managers and more workers. Leverage the managers not the workers.
