    Pros

Good salary and perks (from the CE (comité d'entreprise)).
    Nice people

    Cons

Too much concerns about the safety and security. This is very important, but Exxon makes it sometimes ridiculous.
Working so far from the city (in a refinery) can be hard after a while.
Not enough young and unexperimented hiring.
No internet on the computers. Very hard to program that way.

Current Employee - Technician in Houston, TX

    Pros

Job stability since the oil, gas and chemical industry is currently thriving.

    Cons

No one seems to know where there career is headed. Way too much secretive behavior concerning potential employee development and opportunities. Not knowing where your career is headed is ridiculous. Pay is good but is still relatively lower than some of the other major oil companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to value your employees more or you will lose your more ambitious ones.

Current Employee - Reliability Engineer  in  Beaumont, TX
Current Employee - Reliability Engineer in Beaumont, TX

    Pros

Salary and benefit packages are wonderful. Time-off policy is okay. Great company to work for if you are a mechanical or chemical engineer, specially for chemical engineers.

    Cons

No career path for electrical engineers. Ranking system is flawed because hard work is not taken into account. If you show a perception of doing work (a lot of face-time), your ranking will increase even though you did not output a lot of work. A lot of young Supervisors are very inexperienced so your ranking may decrease if he/she does not adequately recognize or appreciate your hard work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Repair the ranking system. Build a career path or provide opportunities for employees, who are not chemical engineers. Develop solid Supervisors.
