I have been working at ExxonMobil

    Pros

I have enjoyed working with Exxon for several reason, but my main one is the ability to implement change. Senior management is much more inclined to listen to upgrades and changes involving safety, which in the long run and save $$ for the company. The ability to transfer job locations is great as well.

    Cons

Time away from family for some jobs is something of a bummer, but just means I have to plan ahead to schedule travel home and to locations where my family can meet me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to start thinking about rotation schedules earlier in planning phases.

    I worked at ExxonMobil

    Pros

Interns are assigned buddies and mentors to help them adapt to the new environment ASAP. Projects are challenging but interesting. There are a lot of training and development opportunities. There are also a lot of networking events via which interns could get very good insights of the company. One can develop one's career at ExxonMobil, not just to get a job.

    Cons

Like all big companies, there are restrictions with installation of software. Sometimes one has to wait for long to get installation request approved.

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent total compensation and benefits, especially when you consider pension, 401K, disability and life insurance, vacation, personal time, and tuition reimbursement. Challenging technical work. A very conservative and safe company. Many career opportunities.

    Cons

The ranking system unjustly limits annual salary increases and opportunities for older and more experienced workers. They are more deserving. Also, most people rotate in and out of assignments about every three years, and this creates a lot of uncertainty and a lack of accountability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Forced rankings creates unnecessary politics and negativity, with little benefit in return. You would have a happier work force if you eliminated the ranking system. I think it served its purpose through the merger.

I have been working at ExxonMobil (less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent pay, Worldwide operations, awesome management team, emphasis on employee's well being and safety.

    Cons

Permanent car parking is a problem at some office locations unless you are very high up in management team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the royal treatment for your employees! Consider providing additional allowance for parking where a permanent one cannot be assigned.
