    Pros

Free pair of eyeglasses, learning new skills

    Cons

    Poor management, poor interview process

    Advice to Management

Don't schedule interviews on busy days and make the interviewee wait almost an hour and a half to start an interview. Don't hire someone just to cut their hours down to once a week six weeks later to save payroll while screwing the employee over in the process.

  5. Promises Promises

Former Employee - Apprentice Optician in Columbus, OH

I worked at Eyeglass World full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is an opportunity to make pretty good money. They pay fairly well for an entry level apprentice optician.

    Cons

Management is prone to making promises they know they won't be delivering to keep employees working hard when there is no real reward waiting. Promotions and job status changes are the most common promises that either never come through or take so long you are ready to leave before it happens.

    Advice to Management

Be straight forward with your employees. I would have felt more valued if I had been told a straight up "No" than be lead to believe I was working toward something that was also promised to someone else before me. You should also keep better records of employee hours and status. It is pretty bad for an assistant manager to tell an employee they are full time when they aren't and embarrass them in front of everyone when they mention being full time at a staff meeting. And a general manager should have a least an idea of how long an employee is with a company.

    Pros

Amazing doctor to work with, great patients most of the time, worked with my school schedule

    Cons

Micromanagement, upper management comes in once a month if you're lucky, and usually has no idea what is going on. Payroll takes back your bonuses if they up and decide they "overpaid" you, bonuses are really the only way you make money based of your own sales, as opt. Tech you don't make many sales.

  7. Superiors are very rude and rely on high pressured sales to make the money.

    Cons

High pressured sales, not caring about the customers, no payroll, can't pay their bills

Listen to the staff and you would have stronger sales and not always be down
