I have been working at F.W. Webb full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

FW Webb is a leader in their space, but also represents a 150 year legacy of success in the Northeast. I worked for 3 Fortune 100 companies before joining Webb, and the differences in shared values and loyalty are positively tangible. There is strength at the top and the growth prospects are real. Pay is competitive, benefits are strong, and the Pope family (ownership) is clearly committed to the employees.

    Cons

My experience since joining Webb is overwhelmingly positive. There are occasional signs of growing pains, but nothing that doesn't get worked out quickly. The company is surprisingly nimble at its age and size.

    Advice to Management

The focus on growth is right. The loyalty to those who care is appreciated. Continue focus on attracting, developing and retaining the next generation of talent.

I worked at F.W. Webb full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

decent medical/dental coverage, many dedicated and hard-working employees. dependent care account helps pay for daycare pre-tax.

    Cons

corporate leadership is untouchable, and doesn't communicate. Location GMs and OMs are all part of a good ol' boys club and won't accept new talent. Training for new staff is non-existent, though you're expected to be an expert in only a few months. Technology is from the stone age, and dealing with IT is like pulling teeth. Payroll screws up contributions to flexible spending accounts and 401(k) plans constantly. Its expected that you'll be there 10+ hours/day during the week and most Saturdays, as well as never be sick or having anything going on that might interfere with your ability to live in your office.

    Advice to Management

learn that your management core is getting older and will be retiring soon - you need a pathway for people to move up without having been there for 20 years. get with the times regarding technology, and get rid of power-trip managers who have limited management experience and no people skills

    Pros

They offer Good benefits for families

    Cons

Poor and unprofessional management. Poor guidance skills.

    Advice to Management

When you say customers come 1st you should stick to that slogan. I dont feel the customer was the primary concern with this company nor are the employees. Reed of the malden branch is not only unprofessional but he is the worst manager to work for. Instead of guiding his employees he is both contradictive and unclear of what he expects of his employees. He blurs the lines between friendship and proper manager to employee relations and in my opinion has no idea what hes doing. When you work for a company you want to work for someone that believes in you and encourages you to grow. You want to be happy to come into work, not dissatisfied or worried about how your day is going to go. Do not work here unless you are just looking for good bennefits, otherwise if you want more for your future avoid this company like the plague. They only care about money, not the customer or the employee.

    Pros

    Job security. Good health insurance.

    Cons

Poor management. No offer of training. Wrong people doing the wrong jobs.managment training program are just companies vendors relatives and kick backs and favors. Huge joke.

    Advice to Management

Promote the people who work there ass off. Hold those people who don't do their job right accountable.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at F.W. Webb (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Healthcare plan, that is it.

    Cons

Technologically in the dark ages. Using outlook to book meetings is impossible since the exchange server isn't set up, and that's the tip of the iceberg. If you've been working in the outside world, you will be very shocked and disappointed. If you like to think and question or improve anything it is not appreciated, or worse.

    Advice to Management

Get your thinking into at least the year 2005, or at least recognize you are so far behind and allow those whom you've hired to bring you up to speed. And lose the "old boy" network and attitude.
