    Pros

Lots of opportunity to work in numerous IT disciplines.

    Cons

Extremely hard to advance since the turnover rate is very low. There are currently too many department heads and redundancy of work performed.

    Advice to Management

Allow more opportunity for advancement. Prefer the use of Federal Employees over contract employees. Remember to recognize outstanding work performed by employees in various ways.

    Pros

Great benefits package, working together as a team brings you closer to your coworkers. I also travel abroad and get to see the world.

    Cons

The only con I can think of is that there is not an abundance of overtime to be worked when you need that extra spending money.

    Advice to Management

Lead by example, we recently had a high profile executive manager get into some trouble with the law for drinking while driving, and he would send out periodic emails that broadcasted against such acts.

    Pros

Networking opportunities allow you to learn procedures and requirements in different phases of FAA operations. Thus allowing you to market yourself eventually to different divisions within the FAA.

    Cons

There can be road blocks in the form of management types that are not as qualified s they should be, who may impede your progress climbing the latter.

    Advice to Management

When someone is washed out of one department and removed from duty, do not let career history and education lead you to believe they can handle similar duties in a different department.

Air traffic controllers have one of the best salaries all around. They have a comfortable environment and receive awesome benefits. if you want to make six figures a year just sitting down. this is the job for you.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at FAA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

In the field of Air Traffic Control (and if you have what it takes) - this is a rewarding career with competitive salaries, rapid pay raises (first 3 years of training), great benefits and management opportunities for those that show dedication and desire to do more.

    Cons

Pay decreases if you decide to go "up the ladder" into management. Affirmative action can be a challenge for some - a benefit for others.

    Advice to Management

For the 99% - you are doing great!
