    Pros

Company shows well (like a house with a new coat of paint hiding it's many flaws). Clean working environment.

    Cons

You are treated as though you are a child. You must completely dedicate your life to the company and you must be a "Yes Man/Woman" to continue working there. Product quality comes last, meeting quota comes first. Company is completely corporate policy driven unless you brown nose, then they will look the other way. Management lacks professionalism, honesty and character, they lie to your face (all the time acting as if they care about you), elevate illiterate people to management simply because that person dedicated their life to the company. PTO is useless as they rarely approve time off, unless you do personal favors for your boss. Company will tell you to follow procedure to the letter, then tell you to skip steps and get unit out the door, then when it comes back as a failure, they blame you. Pay raises are once a year and low, so get in high. Company demands mandatory OT indefinitely, working employee to exhaustion with no end and does not care how it affects the employee's health and life. It's all about the numbers, it's all about the company. Then one day, you will go into work, be called into the office and terminated with no notice or reason, this happens constantly at FARO Laser Division.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow up, act as professional as you pretend to be, speak and act the truth, stop working employees to death, get organized, become people of great character, appreciate your employees, understand their people with lives and families, stop being dictators, end the B.S., stop hiding behind corporate policy and stop playing favorites, end inappropriate employee/employer relationships, i.e. allowing certain employees to do you personal favors in return for preferred treatment.

    Strong growth, Weak leadership

I have been working at FARO Technologies full-time

    Pros

FARO is in a sweet spot for a growing public company. The barriers to entry in its industry are very high, the number of competitors is very low, and its products are among the best in class for what they do. Not surprisingly therefore, the company enjoys very high gross margins and uses those margins to drive more R&D activity and to fund a M&A pipeline that will likely bear some fruit in the coming years. FARO's benefits plan is fairly good, but compensation is about average.

    Cons

Political strife in the leadership team runs rampant, and this stress creates a competitive environment that is unhealthy. FARO's CEO is a hands-off leader, whose greatest strength is public speaking, but who is not involved enough to address (or perhaps even see) the problems his relatively new leadership team has created. The America's managing director is a micro-manager that lacks sensitivity and compassion for her employees. I would rate attrition risk high right now.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The CEO's direct reports are not getting along, and something needs change there. An effort needs to be made to reverse the tide of discontent that is seeping into FARO's bones. More events and programs designed to make employees feel appreciated and respected would also be a benefit.

    Pros

Somewhat interesting work. Offers PTO. Nothing special with regards to compensation or training.

    Cons

Lots of overtime. Lack of solid management. Priorities changing every day. Can we even take PTO?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a plan and stick to it! If you want people working during weekends, pay for it.

I have been working at FARO Technologies (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Company is in a growth mode, so there are a lot of opportunities for innovative people wanting to work hard and make a difference. Company is still small enough that you feel as though your work makes a different. Strong benefits, competitive compensation. Salespeople have potential to make $$$ if they hustle and are smart about their work.

    Cons

Because we are rapidly growing, we are building infrastructure for future. Lack of existing structure can be frustrating to those coming from much larger companies. The flip side is that new employees can be part of developing and building that structure instead of just dealing with inherited systems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue your investment in all areas of the company. It is great to focus on R & D and Sales - they are indeed our lifeblood, but we need to continue the current investment in the backbone of the company to support R & D development and sales success.

I have been working at FARO Technologies full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

FARO world headquarter is located in Lake Mary, Florida. According to Family Circle Magazine Lake Mary is one of the best place to live in America.

They have very generous paid time off policy, 401k retirement savings, Flexible Spending Account benefits, and tuition reimbursement program.

    Cons

As FARO continue to grow, it needs to spends more money on new product research and development to diversify the product lines.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The leadership team is the best in the industry. They are very smart, understanding, and very energetic. They need to continue to build momentum and retain top employees.

I have been working at FARO Technologies full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I have a lot of autonomy.

    Cons

Management is so concerned with quantity, that the quality of the hardware and the software is appalling. The product management is disastrous, and the lack of design, planning, quality assurance, and testing cost FARO millions in customer service, training, documentation, lost customers, and tarnished reputation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try and use the software. Hire some project managers.
