I worked at FCB Healthcare as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The people here are the best part about the company. Just the fact that the CEO knew my name as an intern was really something that you do not see everyday! Everyone is so collaborative and helpful. It really does have working integrated departments working towards the same goal!

    Cons

The open office layout often left me feeling distracted

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at FCB Healthcare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There aren't any pros. Really. It's that bad.

    Cons

Opportunities for promotion are good because of the high staff turnover. Good people leave or are fired. The dross stays behind and hangs on in there. Some of the lowest-grade people I have ever met have worked there the longest. And check out the creative output: as bad as it gets anywhere. They have a nasty management style that requests that you 'tell tales' on fellow workers and line managers. The place operates on a system of fear. You will get the measure of the place in the first 6.5 seconds, don't stay there a moment longer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being a bunch of sly, manipulative snakes. Respect your employees. Respect your clients. Respect yourselves (you clearly don't). It's not all about the bottom line. The bottom line is important, but not at the expense of destroying the place and your people.

I worked at FCB Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Since leaving, I can look back and say it is truly a creative agency. The work is amazing and really tries to break the traditional pharma mold. If you are looking to work in an award-thirsty, creative-driven agency, this is your match.

    Cons

Good luck getting promotions and/or raises. And be prepared to make your job your life. The work/life balance doesn't really exist on most accounts.
p.s. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Award-thirsty tends to fester back-stabbing competitiveness.

    Pros

If you have talent you have a chance to grown and be respected

    Cons

Long hours, account people can be in the way of the creative process

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since this is one of the biggest advertising agency around, they could invest more in staff and don't burn the creatives in the process just to save money.

Overall good work ethic with most full time staff. Approachable upper management. Good to average work/life balance.

I worked at FCB Healthcare as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Overall work/life balance is good to very good. Compensation is on the higher side of comparable agencies. Creative work can be engaging, fun and unique.

    Cons

Leadership gap. Little to no communication (but plenty of politics) between creative teams from an upper management perspective.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to some of your crucial assets, even if they are freelance. They may end up being your best full-time employees if given the opportunity.

    Pros

FCB Health is on the rise. The agency is nailing new business. I also enjoy going to work everyday. My peers are talented and personable.

    Cons

FCB Health still has some learning to do in the digital/social realms. But then again, this is healthcare. The entire community has a lot of learning to do here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You're getting there. Keep pushing everyone to be creative and improve the level of work int he healthcare category.

    Pros

The people are friendly and very competent, particularly the art directors. The location in NYC is very convenient to Penn Station and a nice area to work.

    Cons

Very restrictive with flexibility, such as working from home. I had a fairly long commute and I would have stayed if I had some additional flexibility. The salaries are also a bit lower than other agencies in the area. I would have loved more opportunities for independent self training/self development.
