I have been working at FEGS Health & Human Services full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of room for advancement. A lot of room for mistakes. Great atmosphere for learning, most positions are not held accountable for actually doing work. Fair amount of freedom to attend to personal affairs during workday.

    Cons

I understand that red tape is usually par for the course for larger organizations but it seems that the amount of red tape that exists generally leads to the missing of state & county deadlines, effective contract negotiation and logical workflows. It's as if most programs were thrown together in a matter of days and no improvements were attempted.

Lower & Middle management have the highest demands and the lowest compensation, comparatively. If you can produce you will be made to produce but you better not have ideas about fixing what's wrong -- chances are someone likes the broken bit because it's making their job easier.

Many people on this site are right; there is a constant fiscal crisis and little interest in deploying effective long term solutions that actually address the problems: Band-aids preferred.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please learn about your programs and the business you are in. There is a tremendously strong "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" attitude that does not lend itself to the appropriate functioning of a business.

Health care *IS* a business -- it shouldn't be treated casually while expecting medicaid and the government to come save poor planning.

Horrible, only interested in in making money to keep senior exec's pay at an obscene 6 figure level.

I worked at FEGS Health & Human Services full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Nothing much to say 'pro'

    Cons

CEO make almost 3/4 million $ a year & is completely out to touch. Others in senior mgt. also make obscene salaries and are clueless, their only skill is brown-nosing the boss. The greed at the upper level is incredible. Unconscionable how they use lower level staff and then dump them when they are deemed no longer needed to generate money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

'C' level staff need to quit and let some people with a conscious and soul run the organization. The Board of Directors need to pull their head out to the sand and truly see how the organization is run.

I worked at FEGS Health & Human Services full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Wonderful people, great mission, excellent time-off policies and benefits. Very generous medical covereage provided through Oxford/United Health Care. Less expensive than most companies. Excellent benefits administration and HR practices. Some innovative technologies, like the online learning.

    Cons

Senior management is out of touch with the lower level employees. Little support is provided, and compensation is not administered fairly or evenly. Too many chiefs are hired, while laying off the low level worker indians. Layoffs seem to be the way of "managing" problematic employees. Failure to communicate adds to the confusion in the trenches. Information is mis-interpreted and there is no transparency in any of the operating divisions. Way too many secrets involved in managing this organization. Major perception of managers not being given the authority to make even the most basic decisions regarding their programs. Money issues are too evident and are detrimental to moral and mission. No salary increases for 5 years, as costs for all benefits increased. Technology company is difficult to work with and there are long wait times for help. Working environment is dingy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Adhere to a true performance based reward system and increase transparency between Sr. mgmt and divisions. Allow managers to manage - and teach them how to manage within their budgets.

I have been working at FEGS Health & Human Services full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There isn't anything I could say positive about FEGS Healthcare Center, except I like my co workers

    Cons

The center operates like a sweat shop, where you have to sign in and sign out to to lunch, and taking a smoke or bathroom break is almost frowned upon. Complaining to HR will eventually get you will fired, unfortunately HR protects management. Bully tactics is used as a form of management, using job threats, are all a part of the culture, stay away the company is a rattle snake pit. If there was an option to select no stars, I would have selected it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire management, and learn to listen to your employees, especially if they're all telling you the same thing.

I have been working at FEGS Health & Human Services full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Mission is solid, although money is wasted on trivial, non-core projects. Time off benefits are great, other benefits are OK.

    Cons

Lack of transparency regarding almost every decision. Constant state of fiscal crisis. Weak middle management and virtually no training for managers. Compensation is low, even for a non-profit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out ways to improve productivity and revenue. Increase pay and focus less on time off.
