I have been working at FEGS Wecare full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Mission is solid, although money is wasted on trivial, non-core projects. Time off benefits are great, other benefits are OK.

    Cons

Lack of transparency regarding almost every decision. Constant state of fiscal crisis. Weak middle management and virtually no training for managers. Compensation is low, even for a non-profit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out ways to improve productivity and revenue. Increase pay and focus less on time off.

I worked at FEGS Wecare full-time for less than a year

    Pros

no personal growth. who takes a social work job without benefits? no perks.

    Cons

dishonest senior staff. They treat workers with disrespect and throwing employees under the bus is their policy. NO SUPPORT.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Conduct your "business" of helping people in the manner a fortune 500 treats its employees. You get what you give out of employees.

I have been working at FEGS Wecare full-time for less than a year

    Pros

-Rewarding to work directly with clients in need.
    -Standard/decent benefits and vacation time.

    Cons

-Management disconnected from actual work with clients but still very critical of employee performance.
-Poor communication within and between departments.
-FEGS is in the business of helping people, literally. Their main concern is running their programs as cheaply as possible. This puts a lot of pressure on their overworked employees to deliver impossible outcomes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Come out and see the programs every once in awhile! Be more involved, more transparent and more hands on to truly understand what goes on day-to-day.

Former Employee - Therapist  in  Copiague, NY
Former Employee - Therapist in Copiague, NY

I worked at FEGS Wecare as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Becoming a social worker an LCSW is to assist those in need. That I was able to do within reason as the paperwork is oppressive and 30 minute therapy sessions encouraged.

    Cons

    Taking advantage of employees
    High demands low wage
Those promoted in the company follow the absurd agenda of capitalist greed
It's all about revenue not about people, social workers are for the people...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire full time provide benefits. We are people who want to assist others so assist us. Don't wonder why you have a high turnover. I am disgusted by the agenda of your agency. It has very little to do with humanity everything to do with money
