    Pros

I absolutely love the people. Everyone is so kind and engaging. It is a fast paced environment- so only the ambitious sign up!

    Cons

There are not a lot of restaurants for external lunches in the vicinity of the Bank.

    Pros

    Good benefits. Parking garage. Gym.

    Cons

Long hours. Little respect for family time.

    Advice to Management

Get honest with yourselves. 70-80 hours weeks burn out the very people who butter your bread.

    Pros

They provide pizza and coffee for employees on occasion.

    Cons

The new bank president has significantly cut the bonus compensation of analysts, managers, and directors in an effort to save operating expenses, while allowing his friends in senior management to keep the same bonus level in order to enrich themselves. I've quickly come to the realization that this place is not a meritocracy. The President expresses a desire to change the culture of the bank in a positive way but his actions speak louder than words, and one of the main ways any organization expresses its values and regards for its employees is not necessarily the level of compensation but it's fairness. On that point, the president has miserably failed.

    Advice to Management

If you truly want to reduce bank expenses that's fine, but don't do it solely on the backs of middle management, and stop treating the compensation package as if it's a slush fund for senior management.

    Pros

Crushed ice in break room, that's it.

    Cons

    - Management in-fighting
    - Directors with no bank experience
    - Bank-issued iPhone has GPS tracker, enables IT and management to READ ALL EMAILS.

    Advice to Management

Receivership is my best advice. No need for FHLBs when rates are near zero and banks have plenty of liquidity.

    Pros

It's difficult to find any pros. Location I guess.

    Cons

Toxic environment. Passive-aggressive leadership. No work/life balance. Chaotic - everything is an emergency. On the surface, the salary seems good, but when you factor in the number of hours you are expected to work you quickly realize you aren't getting paid as well as you thought.

    Advice to Management

Don't put people in management positions when they have no idea how to lead or inspire their team. Stop running the organization like a sweat shop and realize people have lives outside of the organization.

    Pros

Limited time engagement as a consultant, pros were:
    --Well defined vision.
    --Quick decisions from management.
    --VERY professional staff
    --Easy to work with

Having worked at a large number of enterprises as a consultant, I would rate FHLB Dallas in the top five. They know what they want, give good direction and are very pleasant to work with. This is true from the C-level down.

    Cons

    Tight budgets, tight time frames

    Pros

If there was anything good to say, i would have not left!

    Cons

Everything. Management is hostile, on the defense, some are placed in management (Dir.) positions with no previous knowledge, experience on the field, nor previous experience managing people. They are monstly out to make a name for themselves, mostly the young ones. Ahh, and if you don't have a problem with "female - man wanna be's", then this is your place to work.

    Advice to Management

    Fire yourselves!

    Pros

Pay is fair, but only fair. This business thinks they pay more than most (and will tell you they do) but when you look at the market they are about even.

    Cons

Horrible military like management. This business has a board of directors that is only focused on their profits, and really care less about retaining employees. The business once had a pension plan and an incentive bonus pay program both of which the board of directors ended.....what next? No intention of ever making a work/life balance, although they say they do on occasion but never deliver.

    Advice to Management

Focus on retaining workforce instead of just feeling everyone is easily replaced, and invest in your staff. Once a loyal staff is obtained, the profits wil come right behind it....every time.
