I worked at FLSmidth Minerals USA

    Pros

FLSmidth offered better than average pay and excellent benefits. They have a nice workplace and are concerned with the wellbeing of their workers.

    Cons

They are a mid-sized multinational company that sometimes feels disconnected. You see a lot of familiar faces, but often wonder what it is that they do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many layers of management leave you wondering who is in charge? The organization leaves employees without the sense of ownership. Many people simply push responsibility to someone else because of the lack of personal ownership of a project.

I worked at FLSmidth Minerals USA

    Pros

FLSmidth has a good work-life balance along with the standard corporate benefits that you can expect at a large global corporation. Promotion opportunities exist within many of the different departments.

    Cons

The office culture is cubicle land and most coworkers are friendly and easy to get along with. Some training opportunities exist but can be limited at times due to workload fluctuations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to keep in mind that the employees are what makes an organization great.

I have been working at FLSmidth Minerals USA full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good people to work with.

    Cons

Current management, specifically the new CEO has lost complete focus of what the company does, sell equipment. It is clear management has lost control with monthly restructuring and knee jerk reactions. Perhaps the goal is simply to downsize and sell the division, which would be for the best. Continuing under the current CEO will only burry what's left of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on what our core business is, selling equipment.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

great oportunity working with different engineers, muliple projects, and the HR Benifits are common for large corporation.

    Cons

TOO many managers. upper management has no clue of day to day opperations, company just went thru major business group re-alignment, still un resolved positions or management. the politics distract every core of the business

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time to bring some one up from the middle mmangement of organization to dictate policy.

I worked at FLSmidth Minerals USA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people and friendships are the only reason people stay. The SLC facilities and location are nice and convenient .

    Cons

Horrible middle and upper management. Completely driven by EBITA scores and don't care about the people. Excessive layoffs where employees were told 40% of layoffs would be management. No management has been laid off to date. Management hires and promotes friends and family, not who is qualified. Inappropriate relationships between management and employees and when reported we are told to let it go. I personally went 6 month where my manager didn't speak to me. Horrible company.
