    Pros

Great, fast paced environment with lots to do. You will never be bored working for them as the fast paced environment of television is exciting as well as ever-changing.

    Cons

Their pay doesn't match what network broadcasters will offer. it takes a long time of working your way up the ladder so know that you will have to stick it out to rise within the ranks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

reward the people running the networks and you will keep the ones with the most talent.

    I worked at FOX Sports

    Pros

The supervisors who you work under are really down to earth people who enjoy their jobs and want to put on a good show.

    Cons

The pay is poor, you work nights and weekends so if you want any kind of social life, this isn't the place to work.
The one problem I did have with management is that when you would bust your tail and ask for a raise they would look at you and tell you "Everyone wants to work for Fox Sports. And we can get any one off the street to come in here and do what you do so be thankful for the job that you have here."
The show I was working for, they hired us "week to week" but hired us every week and had us working 40 hours a week. The "week to week" was a scam to keep from hiring the PA's as full time and not giving us benefits to keep dow costs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be so cheap. We worked for you full time, all of us had a college degree and yet you made us feel like we were insignificant when the fact of the matter is, we were the one's putting together the sports high lights.

I worked at FOX Sports full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I like the work, not the training cycles.

    Cons

Some of Senior Management not well informed. In other words they couldn't do the job the asked us to do. Some supervisors haven't a clue and are no help at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend a week watching and asking questions about what the specialist are doing. Ask, don't assume.

    Pros

    Its a job with benefits

    Cons

Managment won't admit its mistakes and lies about everything. Anything brout to managments attention will be twisted to make the employee look bad no matter what. Managment claims to have standards for hiring people then complains when the people they do hire aren't doing thier job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quite. Go somewhere else like a used car lot or a communist nation.

    Pros

Great first job out of college; great benefits (401K - FOX matches up to 6%, medical - FOX pays 80%, and low doctor office co-pays & low prescription co-pays ); great perks

    Cons

Not so great work-life balance (long hours; had to eat at desk most days and not take actual breaks); no official training

I have been working at FOX Sports full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good entry level position for someone that does not want to work the generic 9 to 5 schedule. Doing live sporting events in the evenings and the weekends is a plus.

    Cons

The department is 24/7, making the hours for some very taxing. Very few will have a weekend day that would consist of having Saturday or a Sunday. And if a holiday lands on your work day, you are expected to work. Initially, the position qualifications called for an applicant with experience, but it has now become an entry level position.

I worked at FOX Sports as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    The neighborhood, that's about it.

    Cons

I worked in the traffic department for Fox Deportes and the Fox International (Spanish language) channels. The entire section was placed in a dirty, poorly lit area. The difference between the English and Spanish language areas were obvious. Bright, fresh paint and clean flooring for Fox Sports literally gave way to dirty, smelly carpeting and chipped fading paint right where Deportes and the International channels office area began. it stunk in every sense of the word.

Depressing aesthetics aside, the woman I reported to was very unprofessional. She would scream at people all the time. Everyone cowered at her tantrums. It felt like you were in the orphanage Dickens describes in Oliver Twist.

And to top it all off, the pay was terrible.

Thank goodness I was on a temp to perm basis. I got out of there as soon as I could.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management may not even be aware of the discrepancies between their English and Spanish language office spaces and management. Some new blood in Deportes Management might help.
