    Pros

Small company, open to suggestions for changes and enhancements

    Cons

Employs people who are allowed to bully other people
You are expected to work late nights and on weekends

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Watch out for the people who are positions of authority and how they interact with others, especially their underlings. There was a lot of mental abuse going on there.

I have been working at FTD full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Plenty of opportunities to apply individual talents

    Cons

Lacks a defined culture that embraces employee development

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't set so much weight on top management (EVPs) for driving the organizations future. Reach out to ALL levels of the organization to solicit input. Consider the facilitation of 360 evaluations to identify opportunities for top level executive management to identify and address their (leadership) weaknesses. Address the silo mentality that exists throughout the organization. Focus more on growing customer satisfaction over growing profits.

I worked at FTD full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Company does an excellent job of finding smart and talented people.

    Cons

Severe lack of leadership and strategy or stratedgy that's inconsistent with the company's vision/mission

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean house at the executive management level. The company is notorious for indecision, unrealistic expectations of how much time should be spent on a job, poor process, significant spend on projects that will do little to move the needle and lack of commitment towards making progress on the larger strategic projects that are really critical to the overall organizations success (ecommerce and crm redesign). Additionally, the overhaul is needed at the executive level because the people that are in place today, do not know what to do with the talent that they bring in. They do not know how to empower and motivate people. Rather there is a toxic culture that is riddled with finger pointing, personal agendas, and bad politics.

Former Employee - Management in Downers Grove, IL

I worked at FTD full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

-Excellent employee loyalty in some departments
-Hard workers who care about success and are passionate for their business and fellow employees
-Compensation packages are fair (and in some departments, above market)

    Cons

-Decision making at the management level is painfully slow
-Company is risk-averse and conservative (too slow moving for ecommerce)
-Like many publicly held companies, there is too much long-term sacrifice for short-term gain
-Expect no personal life for the 3 weeks leading up to Christmas, Valentine's Day and Mother's Day

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    -Invest in innovation
    -Remove built-in layers of bureaucracy
-Invest in training and employee retention programs

I worked at FTD full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Work from home environment, and working with local florists, who are the hardest working people I have ever met. You get to be very close with them, and involved in their lives, and feel a great deal of satisfaction in trying to help their business become better.

The money was good for the job responsibilities you have.

    Cons

The has been a lot of senior management turnover, and thus, the direction and focus of the company keeps changing. They say they are a partner of the local florist, but they really are not. There is so much politics involved here that it makes it hard to do your job and maintain any sense of integrity.

The company is not growing, so there is very limited career advancement opportunities.
