    Healthcare practice culture is toxic

Director In Healthcare Practice (Current Employee) Atlanta, GA

Proscompetitive pay opportunity to travel 100% of the time (hint of sarcasm)

ConsIn the Healthcare practice there is poor advancement at the Director level on up; the firm consistently fills Managing Director and Senior Managing Director positions with rejects from the Big Four consultancies

Advice to Senior ManagementIdentify your loyal "A" players and grow people from within; learn to appropriately identify and share sales credit; start evaluating staff based upon accomplishments on the client site (e.g. implement client executive feedback surveys) not on the typical politics which exist in this and pretty much every consulting practice

    Interesting.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsCompany has solid deal flow and smart people. It has a presence in Times Square.

ConsThe firm consults on a unique area and is focused on that type of work.

    Rampant favoritism and nepotism

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsBenefit package for insurance is good, PTO can be good but managers frequently deny requests

ConsTravel on holidays, will be asked to cancel vacation plans
    Nonexistent project management
No training budget = no training
Leaders show up to socialize and be on phone with other clients - theye don't come to solve problems or assist staff in problem solving

Advice to Senior ManagementStop hiring your kids and their college buddies. Have one standard that applies to everyone - too many exceptions for those in management's favor.

    Potential

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe workload is pretty steady and not too overwhelming. The pay is pretty good for the work being done. There are so many departments allowing for different career paths. The company culture is as expected for working in technology.

ConsAdvancing to different departments is not the easiest. Sometimes the expectations of employees is a bit extreme.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't overlook good employees because they aren't going out of their way to impress.

    Great Great company!company!

Capital Markets Intern (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsGreat Culture, very inclusive of everybody, and they do a great job of taking into account everybody's needs.

    ConsWork can be slow and mundane at times;
Favoritism amongst Senior Directors and Management is common

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep doing a great job!

Solid work experience, but poorly managed and too much emphasis on unrealistic budgets.

Senior Consultant (Current Employee) Roseland, NJ

ProsHas lucrative complex clients and there is much to be gained in enhancing ones skills and on the job knowledge and experience.

ConsThe atmoshphere/culture is lacking; offices don't function as a unit. Offer many consulting services and employ a variety of professionals with different credentials.

Advice to Senior ManagementForm more of a cohesive group. Give employees better performance feedback. Enhance the culture and unit.

Terrific experience of good, bad and ugly management styles - both internally and externally (client facing).

    Senior Consultant (Former Employee)

ProsGreat experience across a wide range of clients, particularly in healthcare (systems, standalones, AMCs, rural and urban hospitals). Good pay.

ConsPerformance review process was inadequate, managing directors not held to consistent standards for developing their supporting staff. Difficult to advance within firm without leaving and then returning

Advice to Senior ManagementImplement a 360 review process, implement a more dynamic pay-for-performance, and subsidize continuing education for top talent.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
