    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Have been able to work on a number of very interesting projects in the year ive been here.

    Cons

They have skilled employees work on long, dragged-out projects that involve little to no technical skill and refuse to hire low level people or contractors to do the work.

    Advice to Management

Hire more low level people, don't force skilled employees to do mindless work. At very least rotate people onto jobs that have no useful career experience.

    Pros

You are exposed to a WORLD of clients in every imaginable sector from law to corporate to finance to healthcare to energy to manufacturing/retail. Point to the WSJ any given day, and our clients aren't just featured...but usually a matter/case/engagement on which we're working with them. And unlike Big 4 or other traditional agencies, FTI allows you a great deal more creativity and input to the engagement than you would in a cookie-cutter agency/firm approach.

    Cons

Typical consulting cons: tough work/life balance, annoying politics, questionable promotions and acquisitions/hires make valuable talent walk out of the door in frustration as a result. Retention is a key issue for FTI right now.

    Advice to Management

Retain, Retain, Retain. You've got the clients, you've got the talent, find a way to make people stay.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fast paced environment; Lots of opportunity to work on different types of projects; Many people have stayed there for their entire careers; A great place to learn on the job for young up-and-coming professionals

    Cons

Lacking a company culture (though the new management seems to have identified this as something to improve); compensation doesn't seem tied to contributions; Not always a collaborative environment; Constant pressure on metrics (e.g. utilization)

    Advice to Management

Please work on addressing compensation structure; Consider improving the educational programming for employees as part of the culture change.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work can very intellectually stimulating and challenging. Some of the management team are great. For the most part, you work with really good, talented individuals.

    Cons

Some people seem to slip through the cracks and we hire persons who do not belong in consulting. Salaries can be on the low side. Job demands often take over your life - weekends, late nights, urgent travel, ad-hoc needs seem to never stop and you are expected to answer them. Requires being tied to your phone/email. Formal training is lacking

    Advice to Management

Develop a true work/life balance culture. Currently, management treats employees as robots and expects everyone to only be a work machine.
