    Pros

You come across a wide variety of people with different backgrounds and skillsets.

    Cons

Don't have any at the moment.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive pay (took essentially the same pay to leave). Great group at the junior levels. Generous PTO and benefits. Opportunities to advance if you are the right person, in the right place, at the right time.

    Cons

Good Ol' Boys Club at the upper management level. Management also battles perception problems ("playing favorites", disingenuous presentations at meetings, etc). Projects are typically interesting at a high level and in general terms, but junior staff is left to do the dirty, tedious elements of execution.

    Advice to Management

I could offer some but they seem stuck in their ways.

Smart and interesting coworkers and assignments, but a little all-consuming.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Smart co-workers, good assignments, travel opportunities, good learning opportunities, and good senior management.

    Cons

Poor work-life balance, compensation isn't great, and little communication across upper and mid-management.

    Advice to Management

Institute 360 degree reviews otherwise it's difficult to evaluate how effectively mid-level management is managing consultants.

I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Most of the people here are very smart and hard working - Pay is solid and on par with industry

    Cons

    - Senior leaders are very narrow minded and will not allow people below them any flexibility to try new initiatives - Bonus is driven way too much on utilization, which provides no incentive to do good work and only bill hours - Don't do anything to retain talented employees, a lot of which leave within 1-2 years of joining the firm - No integration of culture from the plethora of acquisitions over the last 5 years - No strategic vision or leadership from practice leaders or senior management - increasing bill rates and hiring more people is not a sustainable growth strategy. Also no transparency or communication from same leaders.

    Advice to Management

You need to provide more communication and transparency, as well as develop a legitimate strategy and actions to achieve the end goal. Just stating the end goal without any implementation is useless.

    Pros

interesting work, varied and opportunity to travel; smart people to learn from, decent compensation for senior staff to young managers.

    Cons

Poor training for fresh out of school new hires, difficult path to senior managing director, upper level compensation (below sr managing director) is sub-par especially for a public company

    Advice to Management

Need better direction from senior management, compensation package for the higher level below senior managing director is poor, need better training and assistance for new hires & managing directors (assistance to ascend to senior managing director).

    Pros

FTI offers very high salaries and excellent benefits and vacation. The work can be very challenging (this is a plus). The work schedule is flexible, which can be good or bad - some days are not busy while other times you may have to work weekends.

    Cons

The structure at FTI is very hierarchical. The review and promotion process is Byzantine. There is little support for mid-level managers - the transition from obtaining work from senior people to generating your own business makes it very lonely in the middle.

    Advice to Management

Quit buying more firms and focus on FTI's core consulting practice
