I have been working at FXCM

    Pros

The environment is relaxed, but the employees are still driven. The benefits are very good, especially compared to other companies' benefit plans.

    Cons

The company is full of relatives of management or their friends. There are very few opportunities for growth. Salary is below average.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't give certain employees what they want just because you want to make them happy; other employees have to deal with the aftermath.

Opportunity to learn about different departments and gain new skills

    Cons

Company no longer cares about their employees
Promotions/Bonus structure is highly biased and subjective
Management hasn't learned to "manage" and don't take responsibility for their short-comings

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Purge management and start over. Things can't get better if you don't fix the root of the problem.

I have been working at FXCM full-time

    Pros

    • Company takes care of it’s own – If you have a rough quarter, bad day, or need more guidance with something, you typically receive it
    • Lots of responsibility given – company doesn’t seek out big titles, certain ages, previous companies on your resume – can go up quickly with hard work
    • Large number of veteran employees who are passionate about what they do – tends to rub off and inspire healthy competition
    • Ideas are welcome – numerous projects / new initiatives come with an idea from an employee who follows through with analysis
    • Wide array of transferrable skills to future jobs within and outside of industry
    • Further education in form of conferences, seminars, courses, etc. is offered and paid for by company at request of employee where relevant

    Cons

    • Self-starters typically first, if not only, to succeed – must actively seek out opportunity, promotion
    • Can be very stressful work for uncertain amounts of time – I have worked in roles where the stress levels were high for months on end
    • Long term career progression not always clear – my path at the company has never been more than 6 months out (can be both good and bad)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    • Ensure large updates/changes are communicated to all offices
    • Consider paying a premium for outside hires in key, high-profile roles (not C-level)

    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
