Former Employee - Global Sales in Dublin, Dublin (Ireland)

I worked at Facebook full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    - Great atmosphere
    - High degee of ownership in your role and in side-projects
    - A lot of freebies (food, sport facilities, etc)
    - Competitive compensation

    Cons

Not many cons. The company moves fast and sometimes the information can be scattered across the organization, hence will take a certain level of proactivity to gather.

Current Contractor - Online Sales Operations in Dublin, Dublin (Ireland)

I have been working at Facebook as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

    some smart and welcoming colleagues
opportunity to advance your career and work on any project (full time employees)
    incredible benefits (full time employees)
awesome place for extroverts, hipsters, geeks, people aged 20 to 30
    free food

    Cons

some jobs are repetitive therefore you won't learn much
    office cliques
contract workers sometimes feel like second-class citizens and micromanaged
some employees do not "understand" colleagues who are parents, over 35, introverts or going through a tough time in life
some full time employees should get off their high horse

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    avoid micromanagement
    include and respect different personalities
contract workers should be promoted to full time employees if their performance is great - after all, a high turnover rate cannot create the team spirit you always talk about

Not a place if your ever down, or suffer with mental health. You gotta be 100% positive or they'll get rid of you or simply say, you're not ready for the next level.

    Pros

Free food, travel and laptop... People are nice but people managers have to be rootless.

    Cons

People managers don't care if your suffering with being down, if this is effecting your performance Facebook isn't the place for you. They'll push you out and won't care to listen to you.

I have been working at Facebook full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

High impact jobs from day one. Lots of responsibility, constant learning - they invest a lot into employees - training courses & personal coaches if you are a high performer. Possible to get promoted really quickly if you are good. Lots of opportunities to move into new roles, as everything is very dynamic. Super open culture, you can talk to anybody no matter how high up they are. Very inspiring workplace - your colleagues are the best out there.

    Cons

People who are looking for a straight career path & who are looking to get challenges presented to them on a silver plate are in the wrong place. It's go in and discover the problems yourself, solve them and build up a reputation. Also, every career is different, as the company is very dynamic - so you won't find that straight-line progression you see in traditional companies.

    Pros

Great facilities, very open culture, working with amazing individuals from multiple backgrounds, very fast paced and constantly changing in a good way and good career growth opportunities.

    Cons

Currently working as a Contractor, so some of the perks are limited like some amazing company events you're allowed to attend but that's understandable.
