I have been working at Facebook full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Nice smart people to work with
    Excellent culture and values
Good metrics measured, both human-wise (e.g. manager approval rates) and engineering wise.
Flexibility in choice of team, work from home options etc.
    Amazing perks

    Cons

Growing pains - growth is so fast that it is hard to maintain culture and knowledge.
Messy code base and obscure/obsolete technologies.
It is not uncommon for teams to be made mostly (or entirely!) from employees with under 1yr of experience which slows everything down.
With all the perks and fun, it's still a job. Some people forget that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Concentrate on providing more perks that save time and energy such as laundry service and gym, things that improve our productivity.

Be careful not to turn perks into time focus & energy wasters, such as collecting receipts for external sports activity. Is avoiding the few abusers of the 60$ a month perk really worth the hassle for everyone else to collect file and submit over 70 receipts for 10$ each throughout the year?

Former Employee - Software Engineer Intern in Menlo Park, CA

I worked at Facebook as an intern

    Pros

I was interning at the HQ. It's a very cool place with many perks including a music room, arcade room, gym, outdoor courts, many restaurants and virtually any game you can think of spread across the campus. The salary is good and the housing is great. A great place to work with its policy to be open about everything going in the company to all employees - even interns. Also the intern program is really good - they have awesome people over there organising things for interns and helping us with intern stuff in general.

    Cons

I would say that the work/life balance could be better.

I have been working at Facebook as an intern

    Pros

    Great campus and people
    Learn a lot
Company is expanding so moving up is pretty natural

    Cons

Work and life tend to bleed over into each other
Almost feels like an extension of college; can feel kind of ridiculous (people will occasionally leave the office to play beer pong in the afternoon)

I have been working at Facebook full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Strong culture of passion, learning, openness / transparency, direct feedback, and everything is designed around empowering engineers to ship things quickly with a lot of autonomy. Growing everywhere and lots of opportunities for driving projects at whatever level you are able. And the people are wonderful - many of them feel like old friends even though we've worked together only a short time.

    Cons

I agree with comments that this is not the place for someone who wants to coast. There's a general feeling that people here believe they're doing some of the most important, best work in their career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep working hard to keep the culture great.

I have been working at Facebook full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The leadership thinks in very innovative and novel ways. Teammates are very highly qualified. It is not just a place for the uber-geeks, people with all proficiencies and skill sets work coherently to achieve the Facebook mission.

    Cons

Too many benefits. Sometimes seems like the unique evaluation system based on "impact" is too subjective.
