Current Employee – been working at Factory Motor Parts
Pros – It is a large company that provides stability, fair wages, and employee discounts on parts. It always seems to be a positive working environment.
Cons – As with any place of employment, there are always the sub-standard coworkers, grumpy clients, and occasional short staff situations. Not bad considering.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work. Remember that your success is built on the shoulders of your hourly associates. Stay competitive as a wholesaler and an employer.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Former Employee – worked at Factory Motor Parts full-time for less than a year
Pros – Most of the people I worked with were okay, not great, but okay. They had little things like birthday parties and ordering out on Fridays in the AP department.
Cons – Aside from one of the managers I interacted with, this company, like so many others have said, doesn't care about their employees. You work the day after Thanksgiving in an office job! You get little time off. The pay was average. The real kicker though was the relationship I had with my immediate supervisor. She was a super driven, if you're not, there's something wrong with you, micro manager. Told me that I was being rude to her for asking for a clarification on something we were discussing and then turned around and told me she didn't want to hear about how I had fixed a problem we had been having. Snatched a paper out of my hand that I had to show her to get clarification on an issue I had not encountered before, saying, "Well fine, I'll handle it myself." Do not work in their accounts payable department. Accountemps told me they had heard horror stories too when I went to them after being fired from this job over a mistake that I made that really wasn't that big of a deal.
Advice to Senior Management – I know in this age of globalization that we have to cut costs, but would it be so bad to actually treat people with respect?

Former Employee – worked at Factory Motor Parts full-time for more than a year
Pros – Nice break rooms. Employee anniversary treats once a month. (Wait, I was told they took that away when they missed their annual sales goal by 0.7%.)
Cons – Management through fear and condescension. If you're not a management favorite, you're doomed. Don't expect constructive criticism from your team leader, just criticism. (and a lot of it) Do NOT make excuses why you cannot complete 60 hours of work in 45 hours.
Advice to Senior Management – Have you ever wondered why people walk through the cube isles saying things like "The rats are leaving the ship."? Treat people as if they have at least a little value. That would be a giant step up.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Advice to Senior Management – If you are going to hire someone, plan ahead. Think about getting that person in front of a trainer, or better yet, how about having your manager provide some training for you instead of making account calls? Maybe instead of saying "find every dealer in these three cities and call them 10 times a week and sell! sell! sell!", maybe pull your head out of your ass and help! help! help! 31 years of experience with a company does not necessarily make someone a good manager. When will people realize that fact!? And how often do you really think a parts manager is going to want to take your call? My guess is that more than once a week and you are just looking for a rejection or an ignore.

Current Employee – been working at Factory Motor Parts
Pros – A good place to work if you can't find anything else or if you have no desire to affect change or be recognized.
Cons – There is an inner circle at the corporate office that isn't open to newcomers. Some very poor employees are protected. New employees are rarely acknowledged, unless of course you are in sales.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to the advice you get from some of the very talented people that go through your revolving employment doors. Someone earlier said that your theory was "if it ain't broke don't fix it". It's more like "it may be broke, but we will just sell more to make up for it".

Current Employee – been working at Factory Motor Parts
Pros – A good place if you're right out of college or in need of a blue collar-type job.
Cons – I would NEVER recommend this company! This organization is about beating every single minute out of its employees! It's a very miserable place!
Advice to Senior Management – Your employees are you most valuable asset - treat them like it!

Former Employee – worked at Factory Motor Parts
Pros – Good place for new grads who have NO life outside of work! This is certainly a place to begin your career as a front line solider without any battlefield protection - expect a lot of mortar, blood and no infantry help!
Cons – A VERY micro managed organization that focuses more on gross profit than people/employees. If you are considering a job with Factory Motor Parts, THINK AGAIN! A JOB, maybe, a Career NEVER!
This company is as TOP DOWN as one can get. Don't expect to bring in new ideas - this is a 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' kind of organization. Only those willing to put in 60 + hours a week are recognized in this company! Forget work/life balance! It's WORK/WORK BALANCE!
Advice to Senior Management – Take a look at some of your "managers" and ask yourself if you have the best people in the right places. MORE FORMALTRAINING Micro managed, control nuts!
