This is a company that you will love to learn about tell others about and have the ability to grow with. They take care of their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Fado Irish Pub full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

People, Environment and Customers! Great place to be and good family feel with staff and customers. Definitely good money for serving job or bar.

    Cons

Can later hours, but it's worth the money. Typically, the managers help everyone make money and balance out the schedule.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep hiring people who fit personality of company. Don't get too corporate.

    Pros

If you get good evening shifts, you can make a lot of money. Because it's a corporate operation, they have high standards and reasonable rules.

    Cons

Base pay is not very high. They give the same servers the good shifts all of the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest some time and effort into your less experienced team members. Let them try harder shifts. You're only as strong as your weakest link.

Bartenders do well, servers not so great. Can do well if in favor of management and the season is good.

I have been working at Fado Irish Pub full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Staff: Management at the St. Louis, Mo Tigin Irish Pub has perfected the art of hiring a great staff who are all unique in their own way. I've been there roughly 10 months and the turnover rate is very low compared to other industry jobs, meaning people hardly quit or management hardly has a need to fire anyone. Both are due to Tigin's employees loving their jobs.

Pay: Being on the wait staff at Tigin is quite lucrative. Located downtown and sharing a building with a hotel means traffic from conventions, the three pro sports teams fans, and some runoff from the stl downtown nightlife. Menu and bar menu prices are quite high leading to large sales.

Offers health/life insurance after a certain period of time. Expensive, but far better than going through with it on your own. Also, Tigin employees get a discount on drinks at the local Joey B's, which doesn't need to be elaborated on concerning how awesome that is.

    Cons

Patrons: You will have all sorts of patrons, and often times it will be hard for someone in their mid-20's to relate to them. Dinner for two could easily come to $100, so the social class of the patrons is often a far cry from the workers serving them. There is also a large generation gap between customers and the staff, again in my opinion due to the difference in social classes. Most of the staff isn't bothered by this, and most of the patrons are down to earth individuals that don't judge people based on their occupation.

Seniority: A good amount of people have worked there for years, and they most definitely get treated in a different way than "rookies". However, on the filpside, you get a taste of it as well after you have proven yourself to management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For such a small pub, being that the wait staff is roughly around 10-15 people depending on the season, there are far to many superiors to answer to. Also, one day a shift leader is serving tables telling jokes to you and the next day they are in a position to write you up for telling a similar joke. Rarely, if ever, does that happen, but the "on and off switch" makes the work environment around management feel like a roller coaster. Slimming down management and having them work more often would most likely make the structure of the totem pole more clear.

I have been working at Fado Irish Pub full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a very casual atmosphere, but very serious when it comes to managing the incredible volume you often deal with. Customer service is a real commitment, not just lip service.

    Cons

It has some of the issues that all restaurants have, i.e. some staff may not have their heads in the game, etc.

I worked at Fado Irish Pub

    Pros

Great relationship with coworkers and pub regulars.
    Great money
    A lot of fun
Huge events (Oktoberfest/world cup block parties)
    Universal Soccer league exposure

    Cons

    LONG hours
    College kids
    Drunk kids
Seems like you must have an accent to be promoted to bartender from server.
