    Where careers go to die

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsEasy work, if you pester people enough things will get done, good if you just want a mediocre paycheck and can stay unattached to your work

ConsNo potential for career growth or promotion. Mediocre pay. Very long hours, with extremely impatient and demanding customers. No recognition for hard work. Very unmotivated colleagues and demoralizing managers.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in higher quality employees

Execs are super conservative - not a next gen company

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

Prosthe execs try to keep employees motivated with events and new office structuring and re-orgs. A good [percentage of the employees are highly motivated. Good for employees expecting low stress environment.

ConsThe execs are super conservative.TOO much politics within the organization. Not a high growth next generation firm which is why they loose their high performers.

    Death spiral

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) South Portland, ME

    ProsGood people
    Compensation and vacation
tools exist to be successful if management gets out of the way

ConsManagement, accountability, desire to do the right thing, no work - people balance exists

Advice to Senior ManagementRemove the layers of middle management and enable the teams to take responsibility and be innovative. Stop making the me too products.
Hold people accountable for their incompetence.
Too often being the company is rewarded at the detriment of others.
Make decisions based on business proposition.
Stop the slow death that you are inflicting, create a vision, make a change, and move on.

    A Roller Coaster Ride

Manufacturer (Former Employee) West Jordan, UT

    ProsGreat benefits
    Above satisfactory vacation time
    Sick pay
    Laid back work environment
    On-site cafeteria
    On-site gym
    Great regularly thrown company parties

    ConsToo many tiers of management
Lack of consideration to whether they're literally working you to death
Working with hazardous chemicals, gases, compounds and machinery all day every day
No room for growth. They'll put you through school and never promote you.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you have so many people come down on one worker bee's head telling them how they're not doing their job right then that worker bee is going to think that there's no use trying. A little positive reinforcement or simple thank you goes a really long way.
24/7, 365 days a year... so if you're work day falls on a holiday and you haven't asked for it off then you're working it.

Manufacturer (Current Employee) South Portland, ME

    ProsGood Benefits, that's about it

Consmicro-managed to the nth degree. Long hours. No respect for employees. Incompetent supervisory staff. Good 'Ole boy middle and upper management. Unqualified management. Little chance for promotion for lower level staff. Under appreciated. Lack of direction. No communication from top to bottom.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your employees. Talk with and to your staff, not at them
