Pros
Wide product range, Tech advanced, diverse culture, friendly staff, great incentives, supportive staff members.
Cons
Though FFX media is the leading publisher in Australia and it a head of their competitors with their product ranges. I feel sometimes it take too long to action business decisions.
Pros
The enjoyment of working for a well respected organisation, where quality is still a first priority. I am pretty much left alone to do what I do best. Plenty of holidays. A lot of autonomy given to people in how they go about their jobs. More respect from management than in other media organisations. Good team of intelligent people to work with, all dedicated to doing the best they can.
Cons
It exists in the management dark ages - but that is common with every media organisation I know. Location at Pyrmont is atrocious, everyone hates it. There is little communication from management and certainly no two-way discussion. There is no ongoing discussion about the future of the company and the industry.
Advice to Senior Management
Start training your managers to be managers. Get a real performance management process in place, not some offr the shelp tickabox system that has no relevance to the jobs that we do. Start talking to the peple who work here.
Pros
flexibility in hours and needed time off, in that respect the company is very respectful of the needs of its employees... the offices are rather swish, although, they're located in the wrong part of town and onsite there is a very good cafe and a gym and the opening hours are longish, so if you arrive early or leave late.. you can grab something to eat or go for a workout.. mostly, I would say it is the respect the company still has in the media world in Australasia which is positive as it is well known and well-respected among those who work in business.
Cons
not thinking ahead, stuck in yesterday's world however, it does not think about career advancement in any meaningful way, nor does it encourage off-site education or help employees learn about new tasks on the job.. it's sink or swim... you're thrown into something and expected to thrive.. some people are good at that.. most people aren't .... very little transparency in salaries and promotions.. it seems like a coterie of a few who make it to the top of the heap with little feedback and there does not seem to be a pathway that is evident to progress in your career.
