Started out an excellent job and more then...

    Customer Consultant (Former Employee)
    Ridgefield, CT

ProsThese comments apply to the way things were when I was first hired in 2007, now I can't think of a reason to work there...
Excellent pay; career path (now non-existent), company paid for furthering education as long as it was in the finance field (now non-existent), freedom to work independently (now micro micromanaged) Superior Customer Service

ConsEliminated many positions and employees who were about to get bonuses & raises (myself included) Decided superior customer service was too expensive. Made most full time positions part-time to eliminate having to pay benefits. Forced employees to, not only, press a number on the phone keypad to state what they were doing (bathroom, fax machine, copying, etc...) but also to open up several other software programs and make detailed notes there depending on what you were doing. Making volume of phone calls taken more important than completing customer requests. It is strictly a numbers bank now.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop the micro managing, re-instate the excellent customer service. Be the small town bank you claim to be still and are not. Stop being a fee-based profit bank, like all the other big commercial banks, and go back to knowing your customers and caring.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    Depends on the branch

    Teller (Former Employee)

    ProsThe training is thorough
Most branches have nice fellow employees
The pay isn't bad for starters
    Customers are mostly nice

ConsSome of the branches have catty tellers (Cranbury, e.g.)
Some of the customer reviews were unfair (e.g. not saying a customer's name the check was for a company with no name individual supplied could lower your rating dramatically)

Advice to Senior ManagementThere should be more room for promotion and better raises, overall. Some of the branches are open unnecessarily late (e.g. Main Street in Ridgefield). We'd be sitting there with 0 customers for the last two hours on a Friday night.
